First off it's great to have you back Vetter! I really think Ekblad is the guy for us, however I just can't see him being there to grab with the 4th pick. So in lieu of that I think the next best choice for us is Sam Reinheart. No one seems to have questions about hi at all.

Good blog Shaune, always enjoy when you make your way back. I do tend to agree that LD is above Dal Colle in terms of the "Big 4" but don't tell IggysBff...

I am ok with whoever falls to us at four. If I were the flames I would have my list like this:

Ekblad
Reinhart
Bennet
Dal Colle
Drasaitl

However, I think the Burke/Treviling would switch up Dal Colle and Drasaitl.

PLEASE NO RITCHIE! Yes he is the rarest type of player in the league however, those guys are such high risks. Add size on the wings through the college free agent signings. Those guys are older and you know what you are getting.

I'll tell you all right now, it's going to be Ritchie. Don't even bother convincing yourself it's not going to be him, because it will be.

ISS has him 6, NHL central scouting has him 4, so there is no consensus... Kinda the opposite of a consensus actually.

ISS has Dal Colle ranked 3, NHL CS has him 5

LD will go 4 if the Oilers keep the pick, but if they don't learn their lesson and trade that pick away this year, I will be convinced once and for all that the Oil are being managed into the ground.

There are so many lists all over its nuts. But most agree the top 4 includes LD not MDC.

Bob Mac's list is a consensus list because it takes all the lists and based on points ranks them where the actual scout have these guys. His final list comes out tonight. His draft lotto one had Ekblad, Reinhart, Bennett, LD, MDC top 5. So its not a huge discrepancy but I just get the feeling he left LD out on purpose thinking the Oil will take him then he could come back and slag on them...

For the record.....would drafting Ritchie really be that bad of a thing? People act like they would be drafting Tim Jackman. I'll admit it's a bit of a risky pick, but it could pay off big time.

I'm curious, have you read Vetter in the past? I never experience him being a homer toward other teams. I don't see him coming back to "slag" on the Oilers as you put it.

I respect Bob Mac, but just because he makes a list doesn't make it a consensus, it makes it a patchwork of other people's work. While analysts on TV might project their own ratings, they are not scouts that watch these players every day, that's why the ISS and NHL central scouting exist.

In any case, rankings really don't mean much, teams will draft the guy they spent time scouting and the guy that they like for one reason or another. Brian Burke delivered a speech in our office, and his draft mentality is to look for someone that works hard. .

I see the top 5 playing out like this..

1. Ekblad
2. Reinhart
3. Drasaitl
4. Bennett
5. Dal Colle
