I am actually really excited to get Vey. I live close to Manchester and discovered how awesome going to AHL games is when we had the lockout. I never knew much about the Kings farm team being a Canucks fan, but $29 will get you the best seats in the house and it is a hell of a time to go get drunk with your buddies.

The mens league team I play ons best player is named McVey - and the first game we went to Vey stood out enough to the point we were joking that Vey was their version of McVey. Since then I have seen him play a few more times and he has still always stood out. I don't know where he fits into our system or if he will ever be a superstar at the big level, but at the very least he will make the Comets a lot better. He also has some pretty decent upside. I think he is worth more than anyone else we would have drafted with that pick.

Good insightful write up Miss C.

I am fully expecting one more year of sub par play so as you said providing NHL ready players this year and stocking the cupboards, I am on board

Great Job Trader Jim.

Thanks for the info!
Ferraro was saying he expects Vey > Bonino. Says he will make the team next year. I really like that pickup for the 50th. Honestly even just Garrison for him. Cap room, move out a Dman and get a guy who has put up good numbers and has a strong history with our coach.

I really feels like next year we're going to have a sedin line and then two 2/3rd lines barring major FA moves.

I am satisfied with the job that Linden & Benning have done so far. I would like to see it continue. From the last blog, because the Canucks have considerable cap space, I would be willing to "over pay" for a Brad Richards, or Ryan Miller, but only for one year, at least one year at a time. If Miller is your guy (he's not necessarily "my" guy) then give him $6.5 for one year. FA promised to spend the money (to me that means to the cap) for a winner. So if he's not spending to the cap, as a season ticket holder, I wouldn't be willing to pay the premium.

I like Richards at two years.

If they bring in Miller it is not as a back up. I think he is your guy for at least 4 years.I like Lack but I have mixed feelings. If you are using lack as part of a big move to go after a player like Kane or Myers I am ok with it. I am also Ok with Lack Markstrom tandem , though I think Benning is not. A big question for Lack is is he ready for 50 games a year as the main guy. I think he is but does Benning.

No to Richards. Waste of cap space.

Complete agreement. Either go Lack & Markstrom or move Lack in a package for a building block and sign Miller while letting Markstrom, Errikson and others develop with Rollie. Rollie is a magician let the man work.

Edit: Pavlec sucks and Buffalo needs a young goalie.... Both prime targets. Don't the Jets love former Moose?
Rumor was Buff wants 3 pieces for Myers. Lack, Tanev, prospect - maybe guance?

For me, any longer than one year and my price goes way down. Only way I'm signing a player for longer is if they are here to stay for the long term, i.e., part of winning a Stanley Cup. Maybe Brodeur would be willing to come play 35+ games in Vancouver for one year, help teach Lack what it means to be a champion, and earn $5million along the way...

Rather go after Lecavalier for cheap from the Flyers than give Richards a dime.

Should Kassian and/or Tanev be extended or traded? If extended what would it cost?

Yeah, I'd be ok with that as well except for the term left on his contract. I think the team needs a better offensive option as the second line C than hoping that Bonino or Vey can make that transition next season. I just suggested Richards because in order for him to get a contract longer than a year, he's going to have to prove he's worth it. I haven't looked at the FA list, but I have a feeling there's not much there. What about Grabovski, is he available?

It's kind of sad/disappointing that he still wants to play but is a shell of his former legend self

P.S. why does everyone seem to want Miller? missed the St. Louis play-off round? He was less than average. I loved Miller when he was younger but those days are long gone. I don't want him anywhere near Vancouver (except for when he comes to the West Coast to boink his model girlfriend)
