Sorry not to able to have made it yesterday. Good update. Still hoping Poile has something up his sleeve to add another forward before the season starts.

Good time back at the rink yesterday ... some nice flashes from some of the guys and a (hopefully) new goal song -- no more Gary Glitter is a great thing!

I agree. Not paying royalties to a pedophile is already great, but getting rid of the 'You suck' chants during the goal song is even better.

One thing I loved from yesterday. I know it was only a scrimmage, but the only place you could find the dump and chase was on the back of a milk carton. The passing was crisp and the prospects were out there to make plays. It didn't feel like a game of shinny at all, and I appreciate that as well.

Leipsic is shorter than I imagined. I never did see him and Diaby next to each other, but that would be quite a shot.

Fiala is going to be really good. I'm looking forward to seeing him on the Preds someday. Hopefully soon.

Funny to read fans whining about not being able to yell "You Suck" 20,000 times during the game. The goalie "You suck" chant should really be enough. Everything else is overkill.

EDIT: I don't know how true this is, but an Omni employee was saying that Ribiero was staying there last Saturday. This was the day after another Preds fan reported hearing Mgmt talking about someone in Phoenix.

It could all be baseless or even b.s., but it's good conversation fodder. I'd be perfectly ok with giving Ribiero a one year contract to let him prove himself.

That would be a refreshing change. The "you suck" is elementary school level imo and, in any event, is now ancient, out of step and lacking original thought. A tired cliché.

He was in town, I saw him at the airport with his wife. Ryan Malone and Ville Leino were in town as well to speak with DP. There were 4 or 5 Dumpster Dave specials in town this Saturday.

Sometimes those Dumpster Dave specials turn out pretty damn well. At this point that's what it's going to take to get this team over the hump.

I think bringing in Ribeiro on a 1-year, $2M contract would be just fine. Since the Preds didn't land one of the top, high-dollar free agents, they have plenty of room under the cap. If Ribeiro comes in & has his head on straight, he could put up 50+ points for the team. If he is a problem in the room, then they might be able to trade him at the deadline to a desperate team and get a pick back for him. Either way, it's not a big risk.

I like that move better than Derek Roy, anyway. Sometimes guys go through bad stretches. Maybe Ribeiro was a little wild & crazy. Maybe he went through a nasty divorce & couldn't focus. Maybe he got a little too friendly with the bottle to help him cope. All of those things can be overcome - if the player wants to & the organization is supportive. This may be one where Poile gives a couple of his vets an opportunity to weigh in before pulling the trigger.

He's not Stastny. And he's not a long term solution. But from a hockey & budget standpoint, I think Ribeiro could help the team at a reasonable rate.

Yes, it is DP's job on the line. He better pull something out of his magic dumpster.

I watched an interview on Derek Jeter last night, espn or fox sports. He talked about how long it took him to over come his achilles tendon injury, mental and physical at his age. I hope this is not a problem for Fisher.

Ok - so the new lineup is something like:

Smith-Ribeiro-Neal
Wilson-Jokinen-Jarnkrok
Cullen-Roy-Stalberg
Forsberg-Gaustad-Nystrom

Weber-Josi
Jones-Volchenkov
Ellis-Eckholm

Reserve:
Clune, Borque, Fisher(IR), Bartley

I probably have a couple guys out of position in that lineup. But, that's a better team than the Preds fielded last year. Not sure it's a playoff team. But it's better on paper. For the dollar value Poile is getting & the fact that Nashville was never going to get a Vanek or Stastny in free agency, I will give Poile a solid B+ for this offseason so far.

Smith-Ribeiro-Neal is the closest thing to an NHL first line that Nashville's had in almost 10 years.

I don't think you'll like what you see from Roy, but Ribeiro is a good player to take a cheap chance on. Roy started out good with the Blues last year, particularly on the PP, but he was absolutely horrid for at least the latter half of the season and playoffs.

Maybe we deal Ribeiro, Jokinen and Roy at the deadline.....wishful thinking...
