agreed.
i don't think it's unreasonable to expect, given the extra PP time and extra ice time with #65, as well as a healthy ryan, that turris could put up 25-30 goals, and near 70pts |

I see him being our captain now or in the near future, but would it be a bit premature to give it to him at the start of the season? |

I'd go no captain next year. They should've gone no captain this past year... |

Totally agree , I also don't think it's fair to
Give it to Neil or Philips because there the only vets .. They'll be healthy scratches no point .. Let some of the young guys develop then choose a captain |

Love the perspective.
Turris allows Karlsson to play his game. I think Zibanejad and Legwand will be asked to play the same style of game. |
|
|
|
Phillips or Kalrsson will be the Captain if there is one next year, Don't know where all the Turris for Captain love is coming from, he has enough pressure being a #1 Center on a team with a lot to prove.
This team has great leadership - and I think they'll gel well. Almost all of our players are character players, we'll have awesome leadership - but this is Kalrsson's team, he'll wear the C here for a long time |

I agree, 6th best means he's better then some pretty good centers... 20-30 id say |

just off the top of my head........getzlaf, bergeron, toews, duchene, johansen, seguin, datsyuk, kopitar, tavares, giroux, crosby, malkin, thornton, stastny, stamkos, sedin, backstrom, couture......and i'm sure there are atleast 4-5 more who i'm not thinking of.
i would put him in a group with guys like kesler, staal, rnh, backes, etc.

I think center is the one position where even strength goal differential carries some meaning in terms of being reflective of head to head play. Turris ranks 8th among all centers. The team as a whole was abysmal. |

I whole heartedly agree with Spatso on this one. If you don't think Kyle Turris is the 8th best centre in the entire league you just don't know hockey.

Statistically I don't know where.
Overall right now I would say 20-30th best. Could play into the top 18 next year. |

Honestly, what manner of statistical criteria spits that out as a conclusion? |

Remember a couple of years ago when I said in November that Karlsson was going to win the Norris. So many of you were unbelievers. We will get a chance to discuss the quality of Turris' play as the season unfolds. Clearly I believe he is a much better player than some of are prepared to consider. |

i don't think anyone is saying that he isn't a good player, but you could EASILY name 15-20 centers who are better than him....and in fact, i've already done it. |

22nd in scoring among centers.......and would have been lower if guys like stamkos, datsyuk, couture, etc, hadn't have missed significant time due to injury.
again, i'm not saying he isn't a very good player, top 20-30 for sure.....but top 6-10 is an absurd statement.
if you take the most obvious of obvious as the top 5....which IMO are crosby, malkin, stamkos, datsyuk, toews...........then put turris at 6......then you're suggesting he's better than getzlaf, kopitar, tavares, giroux, seguin, etc, etc, etc.....that's just not the case |

Turris and his group (presumably Clarke MacArthur and Bobby Ryan) should again be one of the league's better first-lines.

With the exception of the absolute Elite....things change pretty fast in this league. Remember when Rick Nash was the premier Power Winger in the NHL? |
