Giroux seems to be getting less and less respect from people. Left off the list of people who could take the Art Ross from Crosby and, in the TSN franchise faceoff, was beat like 75% to 25% by John Tavares. |

Probably better off, like after the Olympic snub, it only fueled him to be better & prove everyone wrong. |

Id love to add Hayes as much as the next guy, but if we can't even definitively punch Laughton into our lineup idk how this kid plays. He's a bottom six guy if he even makes the team.
He'd be an awesome add, but I totally see him signing elsewhere for not just an oppurtunity, but guaranteed ice time.
Boy, would he make this group of forwards interesting though. Lots of options.

Gagne ended up sitting out last season after an ill-advised off-season strategy of only considering a return to the Flyers (who opted to go in another direction) - bmeltzer

Im guessing he either goes to Calgary to be reunited with Gadreau or home to Boston

Each year there seems to be a top college player who has full UFA status. It seems to me that the team that finally signs him gives a handshake guarantee that he gets enough NHL starts so that a significant portion of the bonus payments are in play.
Does anybody know how that part of the bonus schedule works? Specifically, what is the minimum that Hayes would need to do to earn a full $2.85m this coming season. I do not see any possibility for the Bruins doing a deal unless they move a bunch of salary real fast. |

If you look under the FAQ section at Capgeek, it spells out how the bonuses for EL deals work.
The Bruins don't need a single cent of cap space to sign the player. |

Each player has different incentives in their contract. For him to earn 2.85 he'd probably have to hit markers in several categories like games played, goals, points, average TOI per game, and so on. |

It can hit them with overages for next season though, right? |

If he makes the team, and meets his bonuses and they are using the bonus cushion, yes. |

I think Hayes would stand a chance at working his way into the top six this season, especially if he can switch from RW to LW successfully.
Also, I don't think Voracek will be taken off Giroux's line.

i never heard of this Barry Tabobondung (that's a rough last name). do you think the reason for the pick being in 81 instead of 80 was due to that draft being known to be particularly deep in advance? you just don't see many deals where the pick is 2 years later...especially for a back up goalie.
also not surprising that he met with a tragic end. he's a flyer. |

Late bloomer. Also he was switched from D to wing in his final junior season, and came on that year.
Not sure why the Stephenson compensation was pushed out two years.

not an easy transition to make without being a pretty good skater. tough thing to do.
without looking it up, i'm assuming that deal paved the way for phil myre to arrive. |

The Hawk played in the O with, I believe Tony Tanti, the year he tore the league apart.....he was killed on Parry Island, the reserve just outside Parry sound Ontario....where my family had a cottage....I played against him in a men's tourney shortly before his death....he was lot bigger then 200 lbs ...lol...but he was still the best player on the ice.....he had also won defenceman/player of the year in the IHL ....
Edit....After looking it up, it was the feeder league that he had his big year. |

I assume you mean they don't sign Krug or Reilly Smith or they do some other move to provide the space.

The Bruins do not need a single cent of cap space to sign Hayes. They do not have to make a single cap move in a hurry to sign Hayes.
Now if they want to put him on the roster for the season, that's a different story. But that is a month and half away. |

I heard earlier in the summer he was looking to be guaranteed to be top 6. I don't like people who want it handed to them. He needs to earn it like everybody else. |

I've heard the same thing and I agree. The real question of signing with Boston is having a guaranteed top 6 spot, both due to the amount of good players they have, and the cap situation to keep him on the roster. |

Putting him on the roster is kind of a prerequisite to getting him signed, so... |
