I was definitely fine with Ovi winning it that year but was surprised by the low amount of votes Datsyuk got.

It is hard to compare them because they are completely different types of players. Didn't datsyuk win the selke that year?

I don't think you can compare the Hart with Analytics. As it is the most valuable player to his team.

You should be looking at the Leaster B person / Ted lindsay award as that is the best player in the NHL.

If there is one thing I wish the NHL would do away with, more than clutching and grabbing, is that retarded definition of the Hart Trophy

It isn't and has NEVER been voted in that way, and every year I see the same retards making the same arguments

I think it is to a certain extent. I feel the writers that vote (at least the couple from Calgary that I listen to regularly) narrow it down to the top five or so players and then vote of those players who are the most valuable to there team. This is why you wont see players who miss about 10 games or more win the Hart but they will win the Lindsey.

I think people need to start thinking of the Lindsey as the best player in that season. Mostly because you don't get stupid writers not putting iginla in there top 10 players in 2002.

Like if you have 11 more goals then the next best player in the nhl and around 25% of your team goals you should probably be in the in at least the top 10 when writting down your rankings. Stupid french writer lol.

I would want to see Parise's numbers for that year. I thought he should have been up there instead of Datsyuk. Datsyuk's an absolute beast but I think Parise's 13 more goals made up for that

He did. And yes, they play very different styles. Love watching both.

I personally like watching ovechkin more. But thats just an opinion. I would have no problem with either playing for me.

Ovechkin is an offensive dynamo. But I'm a man who'd rather have two way forwards like Datsyuk

To me, Datsyuk is THE ultimate two way player. None better, IMO.

More importantly....Hayes narrowed his list down to 4 or 5 teams. Gotta at least think were on that list. (saw this from HopInTheCordoba)

Damn right Geno plays well when it counts. Mario like effort. Most talented out of those 3. Ovechkin will never be the same anymore. Datsyuk is awesome and has my respect, just like a Francis.

Ron Francis is interesting with the comparison to Dats.

I believe Ron Francis was one of the most underrated players in any sport.

Look at the #'s he put up.

Could play him in all situations. Excelled at pretty much everything. Just wasn't real flashy.
