I ranked 420 players in the league using normalized rotisserie categories (G, A, P, PIM, PPP, +/-, Shots, Blocks, Hits) with each category carrying the same weight. I used 2013-2014 regular season stats and extrapolated for an 82 game season. The maximum score is 8.5 and the minimum score is -0.5 (+/- effect).
As expected, Crosby came in first at 5.12, but more surprisingly, Neal came in second with 5.00 and Malkin was a close third at 4.99.
Some of the bigger shockers are players like P. Kane, Kessel, and Eberle who I believe have an over-rated fantasy value perception as they came in at 29, 46, and 110, respectively. |

Well your issue is that you made them all carry the same weight. In my points-based fantasy league, here are the stats:
Goals: 3 points
Assists: 2 points
Plus/Minus: 1 point (or -1 point)
PIM: 0.5 Points
Powerplay Point: 1 extra point
Shorthanded Point: 1.5 extra points
Shot on Goal: 0.25 points
Hits: 0.25 points
Blocks: 0.25 points
Goalie win: 5 points
Goal against: -1 point
Saves: 0.2 points each
Shutout: 3 extra points
Obviously a guy like Kane or Kessel seems overvalued if hits and blocks are weighted the same but in almost every league, goals and assists are rated higher than the "intangible"/grinder stuff like hits and blocks so they end up being the top fantasy point producers. |

Ahh this is true. In my fantasy league they actually do have all the same weight. But regardless, it would take about 4 seconds to customize the weighting to match any rotisserie league. I'm strictly talking about rotisserie leagues btw.

Take a centermen with your first pick unless it's OV, Kane, or a PP specialist.
At some point those draws come in handy, and there is no point taking a wing over a center unless it's a really good spot to pick.
Have won 2 of 3 recently myself lol.. 12, 12 and 14 teams. Came 2nd the other time. |

I have a 10-12 person league. One thing I do is if I'm picking in the top four I go for goal scoring. If I'm in the bottom 6-7 I go for a goalie right away. |

Rules for fantasy is plan your draft ahead of time. Get familiar with the stats you are playing. For instance my league used Faceoff Wins so in the draft you'd like to look out for guys who are wing eligible but play Center. You have to make sure you are drafting guys who fill out multiple categories. Backes was a monster for points, +/-, Hits and PIMS That gets you extra FW. My draft strategy is to draft Goalie first and go from there. It is good to get your hands on a elite tender maybe two if you can. My goalies ended up being Rask, Lehtonen and Hiller until Miller got traded in which case I grabbed Miller and traded Lehtonen for an injured Hossa who came back soon after the trade and lehtonen literally got injured a couple days after the trade. |

If your top 4 you'd be stupid to pass over Crosby, Ovechkin, Stamkos or Giroux. I snagged Giroux 2nd round. It was 9 person draft and the order swapped every 2nd round so 2nd became 8th pick ect. I had 8th pick I think, grabbed Rask then when it got back to me 2 picks later I grabbed Giroux. |

Curious where you guys are finding leagues that allow for so many stat categories? As far as I know ESPN or Yahoo pretty much only allows for pretty basic formats and scoring.
