So waivers seems like the right idea.

Markstrom will clear... Perhaps the logic behind the timing could be getting him cleared before the possibility of a goalie injury or two around the league making him a more attractive pick up....

See you tonight Carol, nothing like a little can-con rock on a Friday night

Yeah. I would guess that Benning is counting on other teams still looking at their own situations and not wanting to take on a guy that has to stay on the NHL roster before they make their own player decisions. I thought he might wait until the season had started already, so that teams were essentially set already, but this seems like a better strategy.

I think there might be some interest in him as a backup for a team with a rock solid #1, but any time with questionable goaltending is going to want someone backing up that's capable of playing at the NHL level, he hasn't done that yet and would be a big gamble if their #1 got hurt.

I don't even think the canucks would keep him as their backup if they didn't have Lack. He's a decent prospect but needs to put it together soon, he's running out of opportunities.

The league shuts down out of futility because it is common knowledge nobody can beat the Canucks. And I receive three BJs before dinnertime

Anyone else willing to bet Zack Kassian may leave in a trade? With vey horvat shinkaruk and management not having any ties to Zack I wonder if he may get packaged up for say a Reilly smith or torey krug

I can't see Boston trading either one of those guys really, but especially not Smith.

I will take that bet. He is staying here and will either boom or bust as a Vancouver Canuck

kassian plays a different game than horvat, and much different than shinkaruk.
if hunter isn't a scorer, he's pretty much useless. but kassian brings amore unique skillset.
id assume zack is still the more integral piece even if hunter marginally outscored him

and lets not forget none of those names mentioned have proven anything at the nhl level at this point. kassian showed flashes of being a very impactful player last season
