Was watching the Willie D post-game scrum from the other night. Someone asked about how often Sestito will play in the regular season.

Willie started by answering about how whoever plays well will be in. Then said "if he(Sestito) is playing well he'll ma...be in the lineup"

Did he bite his tongue in saying "make the team?" to avoid any further questioning about it?

I'm probably looking too much into it.

Thunder called it weeks ago, he said Shink is the sleeper pick to make the team.

I think the Canucks should keep 8 Defenseman, since there already at 8 i think they have there defense set and the Goaltending set. You assume the will reduce to 7 defense on there roster, but I cant remember the last time the Canucks have not carried 8 defenseman, maybe with Torterella but mostly teams carry 8 defenseman nowadays. You cant have enough depth on defense as you know, especially puck movers. As defenseman get knicked up throughout the year, 8 D makes the most sense.

Seeing as how our 8th Dman Corrado would not have to clear waivers I'd send him down.

I can't take anyone who has Stanton outside of the top 6 seriously.

I still don't understand how Sestito being waived clears a spot for a young guy. What is the point of keeping Jensen/Shink up if they are just sitting in the Box.

I truly think Sestito is here to stay as the 14th forward. That still leaves at least one legit NHLer in the pressbox with him or a young guy (doesn't make any sense). A trade must be coming.

If Sestito was waived we would have a very different looking lineup.

Well this is assuming both Shinkaruk and Jensen make it and everyone is healthy for opening night.

If we had a vet D like Alberts still, I could see your point but there is no point in Corrado watching games from the pressbox.

so personal lol
Where pretty deep on lefties, Sbisa is ahead of Stanton. If Stanton was in for Corrado, 6,7,8 is all interchangable. #6 d men are not changing the fortunes of the team. There just for depth. Since the team has carried 8 d men since basically the last lockout of 2005, 8 D is pretty standard line of thinking. Fact is Corrado is a 5th round pick and will never be a top 4 D man on this team, he's a depth guy in the NHL, may aswell play in the league now in the role he's destined, he can work his way up lineup if theres injuries and over achieve. If The Canucks wanted him in AHL he would have been sent down already. They already have scrubs in Utica they call call up with out clearing so dont see how that factors in if they like Corrado.

Its based upon Sestito being waived which I just don't see, of course injuries could occur but I would be surprised if Benning is planning his roster based upon the possibilities of injuries. If injuries occur guys will be called up.

How can 2 of Shink/Jensen/Horvat not make the team if Sestito is waived, and how can that not mean that we have 2 of Dorsett/Matthiass/Hansen in the pressbox.

I put Corrado in as the 6th man, not in the press box. Since Stanton is our 4th best lefty and is a waiver pick up that was originally out of tear 2 Alberta Junior hockey dont even know if he's drafted, its not like he has high pedigree, hes an overacheiver and will have to earn his place and as of now is an NHL player but will have to battle with Corrado for #6 spot.

Didn't mean to offend you , my bad. Stanton is the 5th best d-man on this team, better than Sbisa/Weber/Corrado,

I can't see how Sbisa is ahead of Stanton, again 8 D makes sense if it is a Depth Vet like Alberts but not if it is a 21 year old who is still learning the game.

So he's being demoted because he was undrafted and claimed of of waivers? See now I can't take you seriously.

Why should he have to unseat Corrado and Sbisa when he was better than both last year? Hell, he was the steadying/reliable presence on the Stanton-Bieksa pairing at times.

I like Sbisa better, personally. he's a 1st rounder, dont even think Stanton was drafted. But Stanton is good, and overachieves and I have nothing against him. Its awesome that the Canucks are so deep this year on D, and not dresing guys like Alberts. lol
