Wishful thinking. Who is Canucks back up goalie then? With Miller playing like the other night you need to keep hold of lack |

I would be very surprised and disappointed. Kassian hasn't done much in pre-season but was one of the Canucks best players last year, is only 23 and is the only forward except maybe Dorsett who can be a physical presence. I don't know if I agree with all of Benning's moves but I wouldn't expect him to be so short sighted and impatient to move Kassian at this point.
That said I don't think Benning did his homework on Lack before deciding to get Miller, I hope he know realizes that last year's stats are not an accurate reflection where Eddie is. |

Well this season or Kassian is pretty big for both his career and trade value IMO. If he can't take a step forward all of a sudden people won't see as much upside in him moving forward. So if Benning thinks he can be a 2nd liner then he should definitely hold, but if he only sees him developing into more of a tease and being a 3rd liner on a contender then the time to move him is while people still see that upside. |

I could see a scenario down the road where Benning's loyalty to Miller might make him want to move Lack to take some pressure off his prized free-agent signing, but I don't think that'll happen in the near term. I'd say, barring injury, it'll be Miller and Lack sharing the crease—with Miller getting about 65 percent of the work?—until at least Christmas.
If Benning moves Lack out of some loyalty to Miller because he doesn't want him to look bad, then Benning is not who we thought he was and not the right guy for this team. Might as well have Gillis then. |

One preseason loss for Miller and the talk has already started. |

Goalie drama in Vancouver never seems to go away. Perhaps if this is going to continue this year they should focus on getting a good return, which is unprecedented in these parts. |

Also, if anyone wants to add another pool I have a few buddies from school that are starting one. I convinced them to pretty much do the exact same settings as ours(but they don't have GWG's and SHP's). We already have 9 people, we're willing to go as high as 14 or16 teams depending on interest. Drafting next week(either Mon, Tues, or Wed at 6:15 Pacific).
You keep everyone except for 2 players every year, $30 buy-in(we're using leaguesafe.com). League playoff winner, regular season champ, playoff runner-up and winner of 3rd place playoff game all get paid.
PM me if you want in! |

Benning has to move someone sooner or later. You can't say you have two #1 goalies and have one play less or bring in a guy like Miller and tell him he is #1 and don't give him the starts well, maybe you can mislead Miller but neither goalie will be happy. It may work short term but it gets old, see Lu and Schnieds or Lu and the winter classic.
Having some or too many good goalies is a good problem to have. That is why you should trade a goalie, because you have more depth there than in scoring so maybe that would be a good reason to trade Lack - in a package deal to bring in more scoring.
For the record, I did not like the Miller signing and I think it was a mistake on Bennings part. |

I get your point but I think his value to this team will be greater than what he would potentially fetch at this point. |

Wait until a few get injured, then it will get interesting. I also believe it will be a package deal.
