Good start to a road trip. Thought it was a good team effort and starting to see some signs of life from the young guns.
Time to make a statement game in Toronto, |

Although Briere got the tally. let's not forget that Mackinnon's efforts were the main reason that last second game winner was even possible. Great final shift by the Avs. |

A great showing by Berra. If he keeps this up, we'll be laughing for only giving up a second round pick for him.
Did anyone else feel like Berra's juicy rebounds played into our style of defense and helped a quicker transitional game? |

I believe you guys have discussed everything about this hit except for the religious and socio-political implications of it. |

It took 1 game and one period for everyone absolutely hate Berra last year. One game in this year and everyone is hopeful he could be special. Gotta love Avs fans. |

Pretty reasonable that we all were a little skeptical of the trade and sign, he was pretty awful in the short span and other more proven goalies were traded for less.
Most of us remained hopeful that a summer with Allaire would help and early on it is looking like it has.
In Sakic, Roy and Allaire we trust? Not Foote yet...our D still stink. |

Goalies are such strange creatures. Berra was so bad last season it was really hard to see his upside but I guess that's a good lesson for us... If both Roy and Allaire like him, there is obviously something there. He is playing so well right now I could almost see a platoon situation with Varly if Berra keeps this up and Varly doesn't play quite as well as last year.
It's good to hear that Mitchell is getting close. He is one of those guys who don't get enough credit when they are playing and you don't realize how important they are until they miss time.
Iginla and Briere both looked much more comfortable yesterday but man, how impressive has Everberg been? He played less than 13 minutes but it seems like every time he was on the ice he was making good plays. I hope he gets more TOI tonight.
That really sucks for Wilson. He worked hard in the off-season and everybody had been so complementary of his play in the pre-season that I was looking forward to seeing if he could get back to form. I just hope we get a chance to see Redmond tonight because just about ANYBODY would be better than Guenin. |

That's 2 games in a row they played hard, it was really just the opener they stunk. MEH.....they'll be fine. Every team in the league has that one opponent that gives you fits, ours seems to be the Wild right now.
Toronto tonight should be a great test because for the first time this season we won't be playing a very defensive team. Should be wide open tonight! |

Im really happy and suprised abotu Everberg too, looks like a solid Bottom 6 guy. Big body, works hard, and has some hands. Solid find. Could our healthy line up be this now?
McGinn-Duchene-Iginla (Reminds me of Bostons Line last year)
Landeskog-ROR-MacKinnon (Has to eventually click)
Tanguay-Mitchell-Everberg (Balanced hard working line)
McLeod-Briere-Talbot (Whatever is left)
Winchester (Deserves to be in the line up but we wont healthy the 4th line guys) |

Honestly, I'm not too upset with Wilson getting injured. I haven't been impressed by his play at all so far this season, and would rather Redmond play in his place. |

I don't think we can get too excited. He played one solid regular season game so far and had a couple strong preseason outings. The defense played better in front of him compared to the first two games, and Boston (although I expect them to be just fine) did not look like the same team from last year.
Unless Varly completely loses focus, it's his job for 60-70 games this year. |

I was hoping Wilson to play impressive enough that he becomes a trade asset once another teams Dcore is depleted with injuries. Pick up a pick or a mid level prospect for him if a team is desperate |

One good game from Berra and you are already talking platoon situation? Slow your role.
You are right about Iggy & Briere, 2 seasoned vets aren't going to just slip into a new system and dominate. It's going to take a handfull of games and it did look like they both felt more at home against the B's.
Everberg is going to be the surprise of the year for the Avs, or pretty much the surprise FA signing the Avs have had @ forward in a long time. He is big, fast & incredibly smart with the puck.
