Hearing that once McDonald is claimed or clears, Anders Lee is likely to join #Isles in Boston tomorrow.

vukota, are you saying if jack skille were on the team right now, youd be ok with it?

it would not be considered another "bottom of the barrel" signing?

wouldnt it only further hurt lees chance of being recalled?

AND my point wasnt even about skille...it was more that there was a problem, garth gave CMc a 2 game audition and then waived him...very un-garth like.

next move is the coach.

(yes, i just quoted myself)

Either him or Conacher would have to go. The one staying would be the extra forward. Plenty of guys who shouldn't feel comfortable in that lineup

exactly...and it wasnt like it was in the past where it was done 2 weeks too late. colin got his tryout..it didnt work out...he got waived.

if someone was told before the season began that lee would be up with the Isles for the 7th game of the season, im sure just about everyone would have signed up for that.

You know Viz was ready to play last night. The fact that they are stalling because they don't know what to do with Strait & Donovan is comical

I think it is time to expose one or the other to waivers. I am more intuned to put Strait on waivers than Donovan

I am very happy with this decision. Lee deserves a spot but now he has to play to make sure he don't lose the spot

Tryout? The guy flat out sucks and everybody knows that. You mean it took them 6 games this year to figure that out?

Any ideas where Anders Lee will slot into the lineup? Already picked up Brock Nelson as a sleeper in my pool. Just wondering if he is worth making room for fantasy wise. I know he did well last year when he was up playing.

Dan Petriw: McDonald Waived, Isles fall to the Leafs 5-2
- Dan Petriw

"Regardless of what the Islanders do this season, a majority of this fan base will never be satisfied with Jack Capuano as their head coach. When the team is playing well and winning, the response is: “Our players are great.” When the team is losing, the response is: “Our coach should be fired.” I just want to look at the big picture. When the team is winning, everyone deserves praise and when they are failing, it is more than just the coaching staff; the players deserve blame as wel"

See this is where I find a problem. A coach has to adjust to injuries, opposing coaches changes to the line up, match ups, etc. Capuano doesn't do this well whether we are winning or not. The players adhere to Capuano's "system" or they get less ice time and plugs on the 4th line get more. The defense for the most part is a borderline mess whether we win or not. Look no further than the Ranger game for proof. You can't expect your goaltender to bail you out every night because your defensive system relies solely on them. Capuano is showing the same incompetent decision making he's shown since he started here. He's consistent with that. I agree firing him after 2 games would be silly and scream incompetence but why is here in the first place?

A 2 game tryout, that's pretty fair, I'm not saying he's any good but come on. I think a whole bunch of guys should be on alert. Grabo looks like he'll be back and with Lee coming up someone else has to sit, probably gonna be Martin or Clutterbuck

I agree with the bold. The second part I think everyone would have hoped he started the season with the team.

The point is he should have never been on the team to begin with. You already knew before this year what he was and that's a borderline NHL'er at best. My guess is Grabo sits one more game and then you might see Conacher or Martin sit

If "not moving their feet" is more indicative of things not moving in their brains, it can be blamed on poor coaching, inexperienced players, better preparation/play by the opponent or a combination therof. I like the fact that the coaches have them playing/practicing the passing, speed and skill aspects but most of their shots are telegraphed and their close in play is far from high level which hopefully improves with work and time. The frequency and type of penalties they take are a good indicator. Just like last season, some quick wins make the players, coaches and fans overconfident and you can see the more experienced teams outthinking and outworking them right now.

In between periods both PITT and TOR adjusted like many opponents did last year so the result was no surprise. Team is very raw and relying now on the d to generate the offense which worked well in first four games but opponents are on to this. Games are still won and lost within 10 feet of the nets.

What bothers me is everybody knew McDonald was garbage and yes it was only 6 games in but the fact that he was even on the roster to begin the season was a joke. If anything him and Skille should have been reversed. Skille should have been given a chance to show them what he had, not McDonald. Not that big of deal but its the little things like this that make me scratch my head about management

Capuano sounded like Hamonic (who didn't practice) won't be ready, and Visnovsky will. He was unsure of Grabovski (either him or 36) #Isles

I'm completely blown away that Grabovski is even a thought right now. Pretty awesome. I hope those symptoms don't creep back. He's one tough SOB if he's in against Dallas. What happened with Hamonic? He was OK to play last night but not the next game?
