They (Benning) needs to make some changes to get the team to be faster. I hope he saw that last night!!

The faceoff percentages have been better the last couple of games, but that is also an area they definitely need to improve. It will catch up to them, especially with a lack of team speed. They need to control the play and have puck possesion, not spending the entire night scrambling in their own defensive zone hanging on and relying solely on Miller to save them.

This is a better and more balanced team than last year with a much improved coaching system, a lot more entertaining to watch. But last night was absolute grand theft larceny.

For now, I'm excited to see what the team can string together this weekend in Southern California.

Yep.

Hey Lefty, any suggestions for these changes, anybody we can call up from the farm that can help?

They do have trouble with speed but have made some adjustments in game that have helped at times.

I was hoping to see Horvat a little more in the 3rd period, if you, WD, don't trust him how can you trust Sbisa?

Don't really have an issue with the decision to protect the teen in his second career game.

Trades are always difficult because, each club doesn't want to LOSE a trade. In all fairness the club blew it by not getting DSP in the deadline deal as well as not furthering it's position in the draft. I never questioned what Bonino could bring.
- rugdnit

DSP would have been a great addition.

But with how well Bonino has turned out, exceeding expectations of many, it is easy to forget we should have gotten more...

That whole addition by subtraction stuff usually comes across as sour grapes, but not really in this circumstance.

Compared to last year, we have more scoring punch with the addition of Vrbata, issues in the crease are greatly reduced with the addition of a tender that wants to be here. Defense may not be as good as last year without Garrison, but want to reserve judgement of that as Stanton looks better and Tanev has only gotten better too.

I was just looking for him in the second half of the 3rd period. He looks like he can handle a bit of pressure, heck start him in the offensive zone for a face off.

I did get a bit nervous when it looked like the Canucks were going into their defensive shell and then went back on the offensive again. Can't see why anyone wants to sit back on a 1 goal lead with a team from Cali.

The Canucks at this rate will score 73 more goals than last year.

He was 25% on face offs, having him take an offensive zone face off is a waste of an oppurtunity.

I think Willy should start Lack in the first of back to backs. The team has not been doing so well in the 2nd game. Plus the Kings lead the league in hits so the Canucks will be a battered and bruised bunch in Anaheim.

Good question on 1040 today:

Would you trade Bonino for Kesler straight up right now?

Is this assuming Kesler would want to come back or he never played here in the first place?

The best part about winning a cup now is all the players can continually show their rings to Kesler and Lu when ever they play them.

Hey - I know what JB should do. Ryan let in 2 goals last night. Maybe they should send him down for more practice. Time to bring up someone with a half decent GAA - you know, like, maybe if they had a 0.968 save % it wouldn't matter how fast the other team is

Having your first two lines about as quick as a bucket of molasses is not ideal. On the bright side, all of our high end wingers have an abundance of speed, so if they end up making the team soon we could see that remedied

There is more to this question than just on-ice performance. I think in that respect Bonino is still a better fit currently, but all the off-ice crap that went along with Kes makes this an easy no for me

Dudes got Sakic like Release. No I wouldnt. Especially considering Kesler is selfish and made of glass.

Bones has a heavenly precise shot, his aim is ridiculous, and as far as I know, He doesnt get injured 3 times a year.

It is faaaar to early to crown Benning for winning this trade. But look at Bonino on an average team, playing with average players and putting up the numbers he is.

And look at Who Kes is playing with on an elite team. His numbers aint as good......
