I'm one of the guys that looks forward to food for thought rumors (be it based in reality or fantasy), buuuuuuut I really don't think the flyers are shipping out D considering it's probably their biggest weakness imo.

How correct you are. Slow and couldn't pass the puck to a forwards stick if their life depended on it. It's not the only or biggest problem tho. I would have to say secondary scoring is also an issue. They depend on Giroux and Voracek and whoever plays with them that night to produce all the offence.

Generally I would agree it doesnt make sense to deal a position of weakness.. but in the flyers case its a position of weakness, with a lot of it

Delzotto-been pretty solid. Best dman so far imo. But we will see
Streit- normal offensive pp self. Unreliable defensively. 3/4 dman
Coburn- injured most of the games. Has not looked normal. 3/4dman
Schenn- inconsistent, yet better than last year. 4/5dman
Schultz- surprisingly ok. 6/7
MacDonald- ....... Isles fans were right, I was right. He's terriblly overpaid. 5/6 dmann
Grossman- nothing wrong with him. He is what he is. 5/6 dman slow.
Colaiacova- haven't seen enough of him yet


My point being while its at best a very mediocre core, its a lot of mediocrity, and would not hurt the team most likely to deal one. Or two for that matter.

It might not be the best trade they could get, but at least Schenn is signed

Petry could walk for nothing at the end of the year, so unless he gets extended, they should look to get something

They're getting the same level of play from guys like Schultz, Del Zotto & even Colaiacovo that they're getting from Coburn, and need a playmaking winger.

Also wouldn't hurt to clear some cap room, either.
