there could be a bunch of teams in this. i think teams are gonna start looking at their roster and their chances this season and start selling early. the sabres best move right now is losing a bunch in a row and putting at least a dozen points between themselves and 29th place. if 5 or 6 other teams decide they have a horse in the race, they could flood the market and devalue our players that we wanna move.

Could a Hodgson for Perron trade work? What would each side need to give up in addition?

Obviously the Oilers would be looking for a d-man as well, but would they want anyone the Sabres would be offering?

edmonton already had their cody hodgson in sam gagner. did not end well. doubt edmonton has any interest in hodgson, and certainly doubt they wanna give up anything of consequence for him.

He's better than Leino. Still not part of the future though

I hear what your saying but I for one would not be alright with Edmonton getting the 1st overall pick. They had there once in lifetime player in #99. It is someone else's turn.

It would almost be like the Penguins all over again with Crosby.

That said, I do hope the fortune of the Oilers changes soon. As any Buffalo (Bills or Sabres) knows, being bad year after year (after year after year) is no fun at all.

It would be nice to be more than just relevant in the league.

It's an embarrassment IMO that the Oilers are sitting back and doing nothing to change things. The fans deserve better. They are sick of losing. Our fan base (for the most part) has bought in to being a bad team for a couple years. They are sick of it in Edmonton

This is what I was afraid of. The sabres are not a lock to finish last. It seems like everyone in here has been assuming/flaunting the fact that the sabres will end up with one of mcdavid/Eichel. We better pray that we end up with one at this point. Will all of this be worth it if we miss out and end up drafting 3rd or 4th overall? short answer-no

Agreed but I don't think we should rule out finishing last because of winning streak, just that it'll be a closer race than we originally thought.
