Here is to hoping Rob Zepp makes a story like the Roy Hobbs of hockey. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Flyers Come Back to Beat Jets, Zepp, 4 is Magic Number - bmeltzer
It was a good win, a lot of fun to watch. Seeing Giroux be the target of Byfuglien's hostility all evening and then beating the big lug to set up the winning goal was fantastic.
Zepp was every bit as good as could be hoped for in his debut. He didn't allow anything weak, and he made some really huge stops at key momentum points to keep the game in reach.
I also have to give credit to Vincent Lecavalier. He's played very well, with a lot of effort since his stint of games in the press box. He's been giving a lot of obvious effort and busting his tail. Berube handled his return perfectly, and if he continues to play well and with good effort, I'm sure his role will expand.

Thanks Bill. Congrats to Zepp. Heck of a game V-check. And, that is why I don't want Buff. Yes, he has size, and a shot, but not much else. On his goal, it looked like the Flyers players backed off, and let him shoot. He's big, and tough, so I am sure that it scared a few non-physical players. So, the search goes on for a Pronger replacement..... |

Not a single person who likes Byfuglien feels he's in any way, shape or form a Pronger replacement. |

Great win last night. Giroux is just all out warrior and yet IMO remains one of the most underrated players in the game. Living in Toronto the self proclaimed" Hockey Market of the World"... I see it every day, Giroux is rarely mentioned as a top star in this game.
I was disappointed in the Flyers " team toughness". They were pushed around last night. Every board or corner battle they were getting hammered. Hextall needs to address this via trade or FA at some point. I may be in the few but having Rosehill up wouldn't hurt for a few selected games.
Great job by Mr Led Zepp |

Really awesome weekend! This was the first time all season I thought the Flyers were really fun to watch.
Who else wanted to see Berube go with Big Buff last night after the end of the game? I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped the big man. |

Nice win, but vinnys back is still a broken slinky. His skating is lumbering at best and he's a drag on whatever line he's on. He will not go on a hot streak, he needs a heating pad though. Flyers gunning for the 12th pick |

A Vinnyburger sighting.. it really is quite something to behold!
I would still switch them in the lineup. Zombie IS a 4th line player.
I did see Vinny for a shift playing with Jake and G. I hope Berube give him a few more chances on that line.

I agree that they needed a little more physicality last night, but the Jets got away with a ton. Buff alone had the high hit on giroux from behind which sent him into the boards and the cross-check on Simmonds that he came from no where to deliver. Not to mention the blatant slash on B. Schenn which should have given them a 2-man advantage.
It was a rough weekend for Raffl and PEB in terms of the hits department, good to see they're still healthy. |

Vinny still has a shot. If he could get open or someone could get him the puck in his wheel house.... He would score goals and be valuable. |

It definitely wouldn't be a bad idea if the Flyers added some more toughness, but have to be careful about it. Anyone can add a guy like Rinaldo or Rosehill, but still need to be able to play. Get a guy like Clifford, who is bigger, has toughness and can still play.
The fourth line being able to keep their emotions in check was a huge reason they won. Can Rinaldo make the two plays that VandeVelde did last night? Or does he go chasing after Byfuglien to avenge Giroux and give the Jets a 7 minute PP?

As much as I enjoyed last night's game and the game prior the 12th pick is about as close as this team gets to a cup this year. Barring a huge run in January I think Hexy is a seller this year. |

Very possible, but I still want to see them compete. If they lay down, and just die, then there's other issues besides a need for an infusion of talent on the back end. |

What are the chances Ghost and Morin are Flyers next season you think? I'm expecting Coby and either Grossmann or Schultz are dealt at the deadline. |

I'd say they're better than 50%, especially for Morin. |

I think Ryan White would be solid on the 4th line. He has more phsycality then Vandevelde but he has more skill then Rinaldo. I think he could provide some of what we need. |

Yeah, A guy like Clifford or Prust would be nice. I don't know if Rinaldo chases Byfuglien. That may be out of his leauge. I could see Rosehill having a couple shifts with him, and that is all we would need. You could see the Jets just trying to hammer Giroux. Someone has to do something.. This is the Flyers. I don't recall Rosehill taking a lot of stupid penalties ( that was Hartnell and Rinaldo). I do recall Rosehill going out and winning a couple fights last year while this team was down and he gave them life.
Not saying he is the saviour but with guys like Valveeta and Zombie in lineup every night it wouldn't hurt to put Rosehill in once in awhile

Claude Giroux + Jake Voracek = 84 points, combined +26
Sidney Crosby + Evgeni Malkin = 74 points, combined +11
G and Scoracek have fewer PIM combined than Malkin does alone. They have 1 fewer PP point than Crosby/Malkin, doing significantly more damage at ES.
I don't care where the Penguins are in the standings, this is a wonderful sight to see. |

They might be young but I think the good would outweigh the bad. Especially since they both can skate well. |

I see a bit of junior game yesterday. I thought Morin looked very good, he played a solid defensive game using his reach and size to his advantage |

White can be a solid guy in a limited role. I do wonder if he's headed to the AHL for rehab |
