Jack Edwards is a joke and an affront to broadcasting. I couldn't handle having to listen to him call my favorite team's games. I'm curious how B's fans feel towards him, especially with such an esteemed announcer as the legendary Fred Cusick in the team's history. |

Spot on Stewie. Listen to that little chickenpoop Edwards spout on and spout off about the Bruins is truly nauseating. I would love if someone pulled a Ned Braden on him in the booth.

Paul Stewart: I'll Take Dangerous Infractions for $400, Alex - Paul Stewart
as a Canadian long suffering Leaf fan... who's watch and been around the game for a long time.. there are and have been many hockey commentators that I found pretty lowsy... especially those thrown into covering hockey from other sports - and thus having little context.
none.... no one even comes close to Edwards in terms of his hysteric blind bias.
I think he more than the Bruins behavior itself does more to damage the image than anyone.
PS I never read your previous article regarding Edwards - could you repost? or point me to it?

as a Bruins fan I absolutely hate the fact that I have to listen to Edwards call our games. he truly is embarrassing. Sadly there is a large portion of B's fans that love the guy. And i really don't get that. |

totally agree with the article. They are some of the same fans that call boston sports talk radio. |

The Bruins have always been just a bit outside.
This was a good read. |

Yes, Jack Edwards is a laughing stock everywhere outside of Boston, and by a significant percentage of fans in Boston. He is what he is, a blatant homer whose comments have no credibility and receive minimal respect. |

I've heard about the Boston guys being raging homers but not being in Boston I never paid any attention. But recently I had a game on in the background as I was working on my computer and it involved Boston. I had to turn it off 10 minutes later. Now I know what everyone is talking about. Brutal and unlistenable. Respect the game ffs.
I know politics plays into all facets of the NHL a great deal, always has, and I applaud this blogger for his straight shooting. Keep it coming Paul |

Prior to Jack Edwards the Bruins had Dale Arnold and Fred Cusik.
Fred was the best I ever heard so that's an impossible act to follow. Dale tried but he was honestly too nice a guy, too vanilla. They brought in Jack and spiced things up. Most of what fans outside of Boston hear is from clips of fights or other noteworthy incidents. If they watched the entire game they would hear an announcer who loves the game and has equal praise for players from both teams. It's when things get crazy that Jack loses his mind! I've heard the horrible announcers from across the league and frankly I'm happy with Jack. He does the play by play without missing a name or going into long boring stories while the play is on.
As for your stint at NESN, I remember it well! Most of us Bruins fans had a love hate relationship with you as a ref. We thought you squeezed us on the calls but loved the fact that you had a personality on the ice. (they REALLY need to bring the names back on the officials sweaters). Your broadcasting was not polished though I think in time you could have been a great addition. They cut you short and that's a shame. |
