I wonder who they where discussing for Kassian. Was it Cendening +? Tim Erixon+?

You can have Kaleta or Mitchell. Nick is going nowhere unless you want to overpay. Nolan and the brass like him. He is young, big, physical and cheap for the salary cap. No is untradeable, on this shipwreck, but I doubt he would be moved.

For Kassian's 6 points scoring and 60 IQ? I think Erixon plus a pick would be an overpay.

How old is Deslaurier? I see different DOBs on HF and Yahoo.

Never say never. Hawks are deep with older prospects. Sabres have a rich system too but the Hawks may be willing to overpay. They probably would need to send a salary back to the Sabres so it probably would end up being an overpay but I'd certainly would take him over Kassian. Haven't seen much of him but he looked fast for his size and fearless in fights. Hawks could use that size/speed/snarl.

Not a destroyer but seems to have no fear.... Did well against Gazdic. Fights like Eager (meh) but the speed plus hitting plus knows his role would be nice.

If McNeil can tear it up again in Rockford like he was before the injury get him a shot. How has he been playing the last few weeks?

$637,500 through '15-'16. He's an RFA after that.

Good bounce back game for the Hawks. I wish the Ducks could have played them without having to play San Jose the night before. It's happened both times the Hawks played in Anaheim this year. Talk about a scheduling quirk.

The questions should be is he as good at hockey as Nordstrom? Can he play in a shut down role? Is he defensively responsible?

I have seen him play a couple of time and don't really know much about him.

Its the way it goes in the NHL during the regular season. A lot of teams are on their 3rd game in 4 night against a team that is waiting for them and rested.

Very true. but to have the same situation happen twice in one year is bizarre to me.

There ya go JJ...the guy who knows a guy who's friends with Pegula's personal masseuse has spoken.

...and no, you can keep Mitchell. Kaleta?...ahhhh, no.

Deslauriers is Buffalo's 8th leading scorer with 12 points (4 goals). The Sabres are truly a hot mess.

He's played in all 50 games this season, so at least never a healthy scratch. And had a 17 game cup of coffee last year.

I would assume any trade, if it takes place, would have another Blackhawk who is a young, marginal NHLer going the other way (see Pirri, Olsen)

Strangely, the Ducks have lost to SJ & CHI back to back twice this season. And the Sharks & Hawks are responsible fro 5 of Anaheim's 12 losses this year. They are doing pretty good against the rest of the league.

Its interesting that 2 days ago the Buffalo G.M. said publicly that things were very quiet on the trade front; he was ready to talk deals but nobody was calling him.

Maybe he should watch his team play and he would understand why no phone calls.

The way he now plays right now he cannot play in the Hawk lineup. He does have some enticing skills including being a decent skater but he hasn't shown he can contribute without first being developed. Perhaps he could be developed quickly and easily? If the Hawks make a move I expect they'd be looking at a veteran with an inexpensive cap hit who has show he can play the game the Hawks would need from him. That said I'd like to see that physicality in the Hawk lineup, if he can play Blackhawk hockey.

And that's why there is no reason for Buffalo to make this trade. The kid is a real nice 4th line player that can throw bombs. Not setting the world on fire but not worth someone else's fringe NHLer either.

I'm pretty sure he's aware of the situation and is fine with it.

There are maybe 6 guys on this roster that will be here long term. We also will get one of McDavid or Eichel and have an additional 2 1sts to go along with the best prospect pool in the league. I'm sure their are a lot of hockey people wishing they had Murray's job

I think the correct term is a guy who has the potential be a decent player but he plays a position that has better prospects in the Hawks' eyes? A player who would benefit from getting ice time in Buffalo and grow as the team moves forward?
I think that is what he meant.

In his position I would do the same and look for picks and as many prospects as he can get for the vets on the Sabres. Its the smart move.
If he doesn't get his asking price he still is in a good position going into the draft this season. Doesn't Buffalo have 5 picks in the 1st 50 in this draft?

I've always had a soft spot for the Sabres going back to the days of standing in the upper balcony at the Aud.

Unfortunately they are a pitiful mess right now. Hope they can get this rebuild done properly.
