Jan Levine: Game 52: NYR 5 TOR 4, A Win Despite Themselves
Rangers almost find a way to give away a game... - airjan23
Good blog Jan.
I agree they really need to find a way to sign Zuccarello. I really believe Zuccarello not only is a really good player, but is probably one of the best locker room guys. Lets be honest the current group of Rangers are a very professional group, seem kind of uptight, Zuccarello is that release valve who likes to joke around and keep things light. You need someone like that on the team. |

A couple of things:
First, are the Rangers playing great right now? Not really, but the good thing is that they have managed to avoid any prolonged losing streaks, even when they haven't been playing good hockey. Since Hank has been out, they are 2-1-1, which obviously isn't setting the league on fire, but not bad either.
Second, Cam is a backup for a reason. He is a good backup, but he isn't Hank, and he is going to have games like last night. He was terrible last night, plain and simple, and he is going to have to be better than that for the Rangers to hold level until Hank gets back (hopefully). Indeed, if he hadn't played so poorly last night, I think we would have a much different view of that game. I think the Rangers actually played fairly well. |

Some guy on the main thread was jamming this down everyone's throats yesterday who according to some Sabre fans got other trades right before they happened;
Evader kane
Zach begosian
1st rounder
For
Tyler Myers
Drew stafford
Joel armia
Brendan Lemieux
2nd round pick - Cptmjl

Huge deal. Hearing Myers Stafford Armia and Lemieux plus a first for Kane and Bogosian as principles of deal getting close btwn Buf + Wpg |

WPG is out of their minds....I just think they could do better by splitting Bogo and Kane up in seperate deals.... Unless they believe they can make Tyler Myers into the Myers of old.
EDIT: Apprently this Lemieux kid is a better prospect than I thought so never mind... |

Really? I actually think they are getting a good deal.
Kane makes over $5 million a year long term, to be a 50 point locker room cancer, and I like Bogosian, but I don't see him as that much better than TM.
For the Jets to get Armia, Lemieux, and a first out of the deal, along with Meyers and Stafford (who can help them this year), seems like a pretty good deal for them.
Edit: Frankly, I think Winnipeg picked Buffalo clean on this one. |

@rferrone ^ This. He was discussed as the next dominate defenseman in this league based off his play when he entered the league. If WPG gets that its a steal and a half. |

Somebody fire the Buffalo GM before he does something else ridiculously stupid. Let's trade a boatload for a known malcontent that has expressed that one of the main reasons he acts like such a dbag is because he doesn't like to lose. Forget the fact that the Sabres won't be in any position to win anyway until his contract expires, and who knows where he goes from there. Not to mention, you put that clown in a locker room with a bunch of influential young kids -- here is your leader now guys.
IMO, terrible, terrible trade for the Sabres if this really is the deal. |

I think it's an awesome trade. Kane's gonna tear it up and score 35 a year with prime ice time and PP time.
Kane is getting shafted though. His number 1 complaint is that Winnipeg wasn't competitive. Now that they're challengig for the playoffs, he gets dealt to a team just starting their rebuild. A real F U to Kane from management. |

I know he had a dominate season and a half i was really just saying that hes only 24 and shouldnt be hard to get back to something that isnt too far gone. Especially on a team that he doesnt have to be the #1 dman |

Seems like a little pay back for all the bs Kane has caused in the organization. You want out...here you go |

I do hate buffalo. Mainly because they were saying that Myers will only be moved for an overpayment. Specifically citing deals like Strome + Nelson + 1st for Myers or fowler + Palmieri + 1st for Myers.
Buffalo is overpaying here but they're getting 2 young pieces you can build around. And Kane has the most raw offensive talent an upside of any other player included in the deal. |

If you are Buffalo, and you have a rebuilding team with a bunch of young kids which isn't likely to win for awhile, why you would want to have this guy in your locker room is beyond me? It's not like the guy is an 80 point player, not even close. |

Maybe the Rangers can jump in, make it a 3 way and get your boy Stafford out of it |

There is a difference between a guy that likes to party, and guy that quits on his team. And, Kane doesn't even come close to Tyler Seguin from an ability perspective. Indeed, if you look at his last three years, he is basically a 50 point/25 goal type player. A 50 point player with a bad attitude making $5 million a year in a room of young kids -- yah, you're never going to sell me on that one.
