I completely agree with Simmonds and White. They have to play at that level every game. Easier said than done, but if they want to have any shot at the playoffs it's going to take that kind of effort |

What was Rinaldo's misconduct for? - flyer_nutter
For being Zac Rinaldo and being on ice during a scrum after the whistle. he was not doing anything that other players weren't.
At first it looked like the Flyers were going to be down 5 on 3 for 2 minutes so the misconduct was definitely preferable. |

I thought the same thing at first, that would've been a ridiculous call.

Bill, he was jawing at and skating down a player that the refs had ruled just received a head shot. Maybe that isn't grounds for a penalty but I'm sure they warned him to back down and the misconduct was the result. I didn't see any other Flyers attempting to go after Josi there. The refs were probably also told to keep him on a short leash coming back from the Letang hit. I'll give you that.
Ultimately it comes down to Zac doing unnecessary stuff on ice and hurting his team. Zac saw about 3 minutes ice time tops after the misconduct. It basically put the Flyers down a man on bench for the majority of the game.
He had 8 games to think about not putting his team down and he goes right out and ignores the refs between whistles and what was really just an accident play. I've had my fill. |

A host of scouts were in attendance at the game; not surprising considering the rapidly approaching NHL trade deadline. Among the attendees was former Flyers player Scott Mellanby, now the assistant general manager of the Montreal Canadiens. Others included Hockey and Flyers Hall of Famer Mark Howe (Detroit Red Wings), Jason Botteril and Al Santilli (Pittsburgh Penguins), Jamie Pushor (Tampa Bay Lightning), Pierre Gauthier (Chicago Blackhawks), John Van Boxmeer (Buffalo Sabres), Peter Mahovolich (Florida Panthers), Dan O'Brien (Dallas Stars), Dave Taylor (St. Louis Blues), Frank Effinger (Arizona Coyotes), and Kerry Gwydir (New York Islanders).
Many of these scouts are regulars or semi-regulars at games in Philadelphia. Howe, for example, is almost always here.

It might just be the new leash he's on. After an 8 gamer the refs aren't going to stand for much at all. |

unfortunately for Zac's career, "just being Zac Rinaldo" is now a detriment to his team. |

I would give him a much longer leash, about 60 miles or so, back to Lehigh Valley.

I have no problem with Rinaldo playing or sitting as we have quite a few problems on this team - Umberger, VLC, consistency - and I don't have this "He's not an NHL player" attitude about him. But if he was sent to the Phantoms, I wouldn't shed a tear. That being said, I know for a fact he went right after Weber after the VDV hit, and barely at that. He didn't deserve a penalty. How did you see him going after Josi? |

At least with Lecavalier, there's a chance for a goal, and he can play on the PP.

Sounds like we're being scouted heavily then. There was a report earlier in the week that the Habs might have interest in Coburn. From the looks of it it appears that most of those teams would be seeking out defense. I'm guessing the box will be pretty full once Kimmo comes back. |

He's a minor league player, nothing more.
He should be in Lehigh, & he can take his cousin Vinnie with him.
Honestly, after those 2 guys I can accept Umberger a little more. He can kill penalties, & play a clean aggressive game.
He's not going to earn his salary, but I thought he played well today on the Schenn, White line. |

I fear this is the point he's reached. Did he do anything harmful? Certainly not. But the refs seem more than tired of keeping him in line.
For his own sake I hope he does go down the the AHL and develops some skills. Because if the refs are going to hold him to this standard he will be out of the sport sooner rather than later. |

I disagree about the power play thing, that one timer is one trick that isn't working anymore.
Granted the 2nd unit doesn't get the minutes, but I'd rather see Raffl on it instead. |

Ahh, I missed that. No doubt his reputation has gotten worse, most of that is on him, and it's definitely going to be a problem going forward, especially for the remainder of this season. Perhaps a little AHL time would do him some good. |

He can still shoot the puck, if given a chance. I'd rather play Lecavalier over Rinaldo. Raffl is a grinder and forechecker more then a shooter.
