I would never tire of your prospects blogs, French!

Another great blog about good players the Leafs won't draft...

I read a similar comparison when I was looking up Swedish prospects for this draft, a couple of years ago, about Kylington. "Karlsson plus defence" said someone who watched him (he/she lived in Sweden). I've only watch a few videos on YT, so I can't really comment on his defensive game. But man, can he skate!

Can't wait for your forwards blog(s), to see what you think about Gustav "The Goose" Franzen (Kitchener Rangers). Reminds me of Richards, when he played there.

Oh yeah, first.

Ideally i'd love my sens to grab hannifin, as i think he has the potential to be a great partner for karlsson.....that being said, i don't see ottawa being bad enough to grab him.

werenski also seems like an interesting pick, and potentially could be had with an 8-10 pick (which is where i see ottawa drafting). is he a LH or RH shot, and do you think his style would be good to partner with karlsson, or likely better as a 2nd pairing (2nd pp) guy, behind karlsson?

Werenski is a LH LD. I think their styles could mesh, he has the skating to keep up with Karlsson. It wouldn't be a traditional pairing for sure. Not sure how I feel about it. Werenski loves to hold onto the puck and rush it because his size and speed back players off so he can set up the offensive zone...but who the hell has the balls to tell Karlsson they want to be the puck carrier?

i think the last guy was kuba.....and he wound up playing with the panthers.

so then he would likely be a 2nd pairing guy....

karlsson - methot
ceci - werenski

that's not bad actually

Man...Kuba. Those were the days. Wasn't he like -40 or something one year?

Just want to say how impressed I am with your approach to writing on the draft this year. Obviously you did not start into this year's draft without giving some thought on how you were going to organize it. Hope we see a regular thread that brings us up to draft day and beyond.

Thanks spatso. It's a slow process, but I hope to keep churning out content when I can.

Right now Karlsson is playing the best hockey of his career. Since Methot has returned, he has elevated his game to another level. I am inclined to agree that it might be heading in the wrong direction for the Senators to add another free wheeling offensive Dman.

Ok. I could see that. The Sens are a very young team. Most of their top players, except for Ryan and Methot, are 25 and under. Ceci has looked really good and has passed Cowen in terms of reliability.

Interesting to see Button ranked the top 8 with McDavid, Eichel, Marner and Strome as the top 4 followed by Provorov, Hanefin, Werenski and Kylington. Not sure he has the right order but they are the top 8. So, it does appear that the best player on the board when the Sens draft will be a D man.

With all the "scouting" you do, have you ever considered scouting?

That's a relief. Your HB contributions would be missed - you tend to have the best blogs.

Wich is why I think Bergevin should keep his picks, at least for this year. Could explain the trade he made with Sekac going for DPS. Not a lot of sellers and quality on the market anyway.

I'm guessing Kylington is the future Lidstrom.

Good blog. I've had a lot of the same thoughts regarding the defense outside of Hanifin and Provorov. Kylington and Werenski have questions at this point. Though they are undoubtedly talented I could easily see some one jumping ahead much like Trouba did.
