A little hit and miss today but no stupid Berra/Stuart like trades today so its a good day in that regards.

Got 2 interesting pending RFAs, if anything we got younger and Bigger with some upside to it if they turn it around in Hamilton and Caron. Not the worst.

Hopefully they get the deals they want at the draft.

Pretty meh tdl. Kinda sad to see carey go, but hoping for good things out of caron. Big body, maybe needs a new start. Heard he was sorta misused in Boston. Also, my goodness we have a lot of players from the 09 draft by adding clark.

Carey and Stollery were always nice to see in the line up bc it meant we had chances of not saying Cliche, Guenin, and Holden but ultimately they were blah AHLers/Depth guys. They had didnt have enough to their game to over throw the Garbage Pail Kids in those 3.

Hopefully guys like Hamilton and Caron can make an impression, get some good mintues in the AHL/4th line and fight for those spots. Low Risk High Reward type of moves

I'm just happy we don't have to see Talbot on a line with Duchene again, don't know what Duchene did to deserve that. We'll miss his PK ability though.

I do like the flexibility this does give us. IF Caron impresses or not, we have options to have a proper 4th line if they move Mitchell down. If Hishon impresses in this call up, who knows...

Tangs Hishon/UFA Everberg
McLeod Mitchell Caron
Winchester/Bordy

Now thats looking like a proper Bottom 6

According to the Boston blogger, the Avs are still eating half of Talbot's salary.

Can anyone confirm? If so, that sort of sucks. For the most part, he wasn't worth half his salary when he was with the Avs. Losing him AND paying half his money is... well... dumb.

(I am looking forward to seeing Caron though. The Avs seems to be good at "reviving" careers...)

I was pleased with the Avs this deadline. Super Joe didn't pull the trigger on any stupid trades that will hurt us in the future.

Freddie Hamilton, brother of the Dougie , could be a solid defensive forward prospect for us. He also has some offensive upside.

Jordon Caron needs a new system, and will work hard for us and has a potential first round scoring touch.

Mat Clark will be a sound defensive defenseman minor league call up.

All in all good moves. With the best part being we got Dougie's brother

I'm hoping this is our boychuck trade payback and the Bruins giving up on Caron too fast

I would love to see the kid play with Tangs and Mitchell, move Berg up to play with Dutchy and Iggy. I wouldn't mind to see those lines at practice. Could be interesting. Hishon and Mitchell could flop, depending on how Hishon looks

I liked the trades because they helped diversify our prospect pool. Before last summer, our forward depth chart was stacked with very similar players. Agozzino, Bourke, Hishon, Sgarbossa, and Smith are pretty much the same player and don't fit into the main club when a bottom 6 spot open up.

I wouldn't count on that... the guy had one goal in 35 games last year. For anything other than a four liner (which he's good at) he's a total bust though for Jordy's sake I hope I can one day eat my words.

He would be a better 4th liner than what we had, better skater than talbot at least.

Thats why I wouldnt mind seeing him with Tanguay and Mitchell on the 3rd line. IF anyone can set up the kid for easy tap ins, its Tangs

Third line with tangs and everberg would be a nice start for the kid

So....is there any scenario where we re-sign Hedja?

Yes, if they move out at least 1 of the 3 in Guenin, Holden, or Stuart.
Dream Scenario is Stuart retires, Holden is flipped to Ott for Wiercioch and Guenin is Demoted to 7th Dman.

Yeah I can hope for this. I'll take Hedja over Stuart any day as a 3rd pairing veteran. I Have a weird feeling that the summer moves we make are directly tied to bad decisions last year.

We let Hedja go because of the contracts for Holden/Stuart.

We possibly trade ROR who's 2 way game is greatly needed because of contract issues in the past.

I want our decisions made based on what makes this hockey team better, not because of bad contracts.

I will take it as a sign of faith that if the team is willing to retain salary, they are willing to do whatever they have to do to open up spots to make this team better.

Hopefully that is buy outs if it has to lead to that. I would have 1.8m of dead cap space to get rid of Stuart. It would be worth it

Not really...then again he's played better than Stuart. So once again, we're going to keep Stuart because of money and a bad contract and let go of Hedja who essentially is just a more solid veteran option.
