Roy--Yeah I'm gonna give Joey a great chance to succeed. (Puts him on the fourth line with the great MAC and Cody) The kid is not built to play on the fourth line and putting him with those two is a complete waste of time and is the definition of setting him up to fail. The only thing that could make this alright is if he gets some PP time as well.

i still think duchene will be a top player. he's underwhelmed and been inconsistent, but i see him as a top 10 scorer long term.... Maybe that's just me |

I agree. I don't get what has to happen for cliche to be healthied. I think even playing hishon with briere would be a lot better at least he would have someone with decent skill to pass the puck and create some offence with. I thought he played deadly for being thrown right into it in the playoffs last year too. Should have got called up long ago. |

Caron has nice size, decent speed, good shot. I've seen him in practices and thought geez he looks like a player. Could never translate his skill set into anything in game situation for whatever reason. Perhaps his hockey IQ isn't very high. A lot of people think he is junk/flop. I don't know I think he has the tools to be top 9 player, just hasn't put it together. Deserves a fair shake, hope he does well! |

After a couple years of creeping the comments on every Avs post I figured I should just join the damn conversations.
Not a bad trade, definitely didn't lose much to take a chance on a guy just hitting his prime who sounds like a change of scenery will do him some good. I was really hoping to see Hejda get moved though to help restock the prospect cupboard.
This summer could be interesting between the draft and free agency. Outside of EJ, Barrie, Elliott, Siemens and Redmond we need a good face-lift on D. Probably wishful thinking but if Caron and Hishon can stick in the top 6 or 9 and McGinn back next season I could see at least grabbing a wildcard spot next year. Can't wait to see some of the bigger teams in the West start to slide due to the cap.
What does your wishlist look like for off-season additions/subtractions? |

Caron was treated like a red headed step child in Boston.
I hope he works out for you guys, as I know I'll be rooting for him. |

I'd like to see what Caron can bring to the table. I think a new system will do him some good. Playing him with Duchene should be very interesting. We certainly have a number of question mark players moving forward in Caron, Hishon, Everberg, Bleackley, Rendulic, Bigras, Elliott(holds breath), Heard, Picks. Hopefully a few of them can emerge and stick in this lineup. I'm eager to see the bottom 6 filled with some of these guys instead of scraps. *glaces at Cliche* |

Guenin would be fine as being the 7th/8th Dman, his contract doesn't hurt us (his play does)...please no more in the Top 4.
The bigger question is what to do with Stuart and Holden...to me Guenin is simply a somehow better and cheaper stuart.
Holden is junk and his contract sucks bc he doesnt bring anything to the table now.
If they can move both of those contracts out then we have a shot at a really good rebuild of the D Pairings. If they can move Holden and Stuart, I wouldnt mind seeing Hejda back on a 1 year deal to be a 3rd pairing guy

Everberg has shown that he is a legit Bottom 6 NHLer, I think he was a great find.
Rendulic and Hishon need more seasoning in the AHL, just not enough pro hockey to show they are ready. But hopefully Hish shows he is healthy.
Same as Siemens, he needs to stay healthy and show he is ready for NHL bottom pairing minutes.
Bleackley and Bigras are super promising but I think they need more time before jumping into the NHL. I would love to see Bigras play a full season in the AHL dominating before making the jump (plus we need the roster spot for him to make it meaningful)
Lots of intrigue but based on the rosters going into next season, very few spots for any of these guys to take, they really have to earn it to make Roy and Sakic move a 1 way contract out in a trade or sending them to the minors. And if they are playing that great to force managements hand, we are in good shape going into next season |
