Michael Pachla: Tim Murray defines a "changing" core for his team
"Harder to play against" is well within the character of the players Murray wants - Michael Pachla
I really look forward to your stuff Pach. More firehose.
Patience is going to be key: both for the rest of this season, and while we wait for the next group of talent to gel into a "core." Let's hope the chemistry is better than the last group. |

My first first.
I've not mentioned what a great job you're doing with the blogs. I've been visiting this site for about 5 years now and don't read every blog by every blogger but you've quickly solidified yourself amo(u)ngst the top writers here.
It's a word that conjures up visions of a talented group of individual players who's underachieving, passive play inevitably lead to years of mediocrity as a team.
That was exactly the problem with the team during most of Regier's tenure. As this season has worn on, though, a lot of the guys look understandably uninspired. Let's hope it doesn't afflict them and carry over to next season. |

I don't see Gionta and Gorges as part of the future core. To me, this core is looking like Girgensons, McDavid, Reinhart, Risto, Kane and Pysyk. The only piece missing here in the core is the goaltender. |

idk...am of the opinion that they're veteran leadership pieces moving forward...you need those types of players, imo |

I guess boos I'm just not sold on guys like Gionta and Gorges to be the vet leaders in this core. Didn't Gorges complain too much earlier in the season? That doesn't scream of good leadership to me and Gionta won't be re-signed after his contract is up in 2 years. I would think the real vets that will provide leadership will be the younger guys like Girgensons.
They also need to find their goalie in this mix and he's probably not here yet.

Grigorenko not mentioned once....? - mochoson
I liked the Thrashers better than the (new)Jets.
In all seriousness.

I agree, I don't know what's worse, Gionta wearing the "C" or the fact that Ott wore the "C". I've never liked Gionta.
Its his goatee, I admit.

Agrre'd... or else you end up like the Oilers. Need solid vets to lead the kids... |

A guy with 2 years in the league is going to teach kids 3 years younger than him to be pros? Every rebuilding them needs a couple legit 10-15 year vets. |

right on schultzie. He's just not an NHL goalie. I've already moved on from him and I doubt Murray offers him a contract. |

At least the Oiler are showing some compete, not like the Sabers deliberately tanking. |

I'll concede this to a degree. I just don't want Gionta or Gorges to be those guys. Maybe we'll find other guys as vet leaders but for the moment, we'll stuck with them. I think Girgensons will provide great leadership though.
My two cents. |
