I thought the trade Sakic made to send Parenteau (and a pick!) out for Briere was terrible. |

I could deal with PA Parenteau here next season. I'm sure it could be worked out different ways, but capwise it might depend on Dupuis' status a bit.
Not sure what Montreal would want in return for one season of him? |

Can't imagine it would be much given his acquisition costs from Colorado and usage. |

Ryan Wilson: P.A. in PA?
P.A. in PA? - Ryan_Wilson
Actually it's been two years since Parenteau is on the down slope so one could argue that Patrick Roy also had a negative effect on him. The blame should come on his shoulders; he isn't playing well by any stretch of imagination and he had the opportunity to play on the 1st than the 2nd line but he just didn't deserve time on the top 6. After came the concussions and since then he look totally lost on the ice. Sure, playing with Sid or Geno will help him but at 4M$ there is better options, Glencross would fit well with Kunitz and Crosby IMO. |

Walsh is such a douche. But I don't understand why PAP is not playing. I get that eh is not a Therrien type of player. It's the reason why Sekac was traded in favour of grinders and 2 way guys. I mean a kid like Hudon has crazy offensive talent but JDLR is being praised because he is so defensively responsible.
PAP needs to play because Habs cannot score and right now they have a 4th liner playing the bulk of 1st line RWer minutes. It's not a recipe for success.
Issue is that PAP had a chance with Pacioretty and Desharnais and could not do anything because he was always a step behind with his lack of foot speed. |

I believe the answer is simply cap space. PAP was on the market at the deadline. He was almost moved to Columbus along with Eller apparently for Anisimov and something else.
But seriously, habs will trade him simply for the cap space. |

Agreed. It's in PAP and Walsh' best interest for PAP to play as much as possible and be successful, but player agents should keep their yaps shut about team lineup decisions. |

Sutter for PAP would be an absolute steal for Habs.
Dont forget that a good portion of his points the past 4 seasons came playing with the NHL's leading scorer. Some Tavares is now doing with Bailey and Anders Lee |

Given the need to acquire overpaid old Dmen, I wouldn't be surprised |

He had 43 points with Colorado in 48 games in 12/13.
He had 33 points with Colorado in 55 games in 13/14.
Not exactly a model of consistency, but his points/game with Colorado (0.737) are almost exactly the same as with NYI (0.745). So I don't think playing with Tavares has much to do with that. If the Habs took Sutter for him, that' s a total coup for the Penguins. |

Sounds like even more of a reason to make this trade... (frank) the Habs |

I'm not huge on Parenteau at his cap hit, but you must have a different opinion of Sutter than me. How about Sutter for Eller instead?

There's no way the Pens should trade for Parenteau. He's not very good defensively, he's slow and he makes to much $ for what he now produces. There's a reason he's on his 3rd team in 4 years and 5th team in 7 years |

I'd prefer Parenteau to Eller...especially since it's just one year for P.A.
Years of control are usually a good thing but $3.5M for Eller is not something this team needs to be hitched too. |

Scuds for him... Sutter for him... We add a small number of cap for players we don't want. Especially Scuds, we are also removing a year of his cap hit for 625K gained. With Martin/Ehrhoff, or both, gone, we will have more cap to play around with. On the 3rd line at worst, you don't consider that an upgrade? |

Not sure but I think if you check his points per game you'd see most came at the beginning of the year when he was playing with good players and then at the end he fell out of favour with Roy and was slowly moving down the line-up.
Not sure what it was. I like the way he plays. He is somewhat gritty for an offensively gifted player and has offensive skills. |

Eller at $3.5m/yr isn't a team friendly deal, but it is a far cry from Scuderi bad. |

It's the issue of it being for the next 3 years that I have a problem with. I'd rather try to recoup picks for Sutter but if they get a player that's top 6 quality at slightly more then it works. Parenteau fits that bill. I don't think Eller is worth his contract.
And guys, let's be realistic about Scuderi. It's buyout or scratch next year. No way anyone takes him unless they're absolutely desperate and even then he still has to waive the NTC. |
