Watched 5 minutes and felt bad for the players. And then continued on with my day

Yup.... I noticed the double-meaning of SOL and left it on purpose.

hartnell and timmonen were missed this year. i wanted to avoid watching the remaining games but my son is still interested in watching sooo, i just try not to get overly aggravated.

I'm still not totally buying into this patidnce thing due to the fact the product out there is plain awful. i think in the clarke and homer tenure's trading away prospects was ill advised because the team's were very competitive, yet they were always questionable in net. granted a tweak here and there may have been necessary but right now, If I'm hextall i go against the grain and see what's available in terms of proven players. we couldve had keith yandle at the deadline and that would've drastically improved our d-corps which is the team's biggest flaw. he may not be an "all situations defenseman" but he's a helluva lot closer to that than what we have now and at half his salary that wouldve been sweet. but i guess we'll suck for the next decade until the "kids" are ready.

That's perfect.

Is it just me, or were the forwards clustering around the puck in the O-zone more often than normal last night? Even on a few line rushes, there was a serious lack of separation.

And the blocked shots...yikes.

If the Flyers were simply an awful team it would be more understandable. They are not an awful team. They are an inconsistent, flawed and sporadic one in a league of parity with only a couple of true elite teams, a couple of deserved bottom feeders and otherwise minor gaps from the upper-middle class to lower-middle class (which is where the Flyers are). Overall, they've been a good team at home and one that can't buy a win on the road.

It will be amazing how much Giroux's leadership improves when the Flyers add better players.

He'll be George Patton and Mark Messier combined in one bundle of leader-y goodness

Though we should be careful about how much Mark Messier leader-y goodness we want Giroux to display, since Messier's mystical leadership couldn't get him to the playoffs for the last seven years of his career

Amazing, how that mystical inner fire couldn't make Father Time not stop Brian Leetch, Mike Richter and Adam Graves from getting old

Re the Ashbee award: I'd give that to Mason too , lord knows he's bailed out those assclowns enough times this year to deserve it.

When you're a top player in this league, your game shouldn't depend on adding better players.

Lets put it this way, I'm seriously considering what it would take in addition to our two 1sts to get Eichel.

7, 26, BSchenn, Laughton? Not enough? Too much? All I know is that would set you up with G, Eichel, Coots and White down the middle. That looks like a winning team to me.

Hell, with how ungodly awful this team looks I'm probably still considering the move if its the two picks and they demand Jake... And I hate saying that.

Matchups mean a lot, as somebody posted last night, when you have one line.

The Flyers are not an untalented team, but last night they had Zac Rinaldo and Ryan White skating in their top 9 forwards. As much energy as Rinaldo brings and as solid as White has been since coming back from his injury, you won't see many playoff teams starting games with those two on the ice.

The Flyers needed guys like Sean Couturier & Brayden Schenn to step up and become more productive offensive players, and they haven't yet. Whether they aren't as good as once hoped or if it's just a result of development and usage, the needed offense isn't there. Matt Read's injury filled nightmare of a season hurt.

Agreed. Though I would explore packaging our 1st from Tampa with B Schenn to see if they can move up somewhere between 8-12

Well in Giroux's case it does'nt. Even with a severe drop off in talent after Voracek. He still manages to produce offensively. Giroux and Voracek are literally on an island.... all by themeselves and every team knows it. So they are focused on immensely all game long and that has been proven to be the key to success against the Flyers.

So going into the off-season, not only is the blueline a mess, the Flyers have serious issues being able to score goals. I believe this is 19 of the last 20 games where they have scored 3 goals or less.

Hextall has a monumental task ahead of him, I hope his time away from the Flyers Organization served him well.

I actually think B.Schenn and a 1st rd pick would get us in the 3-5 pick range.

one of the issues this team has is giving up open scoring chances to make a pretty pass

No matter who wins the Ashbee, they will undoubtedly be one of the more underserving Ashbee winners of all time.

Again that depends on the 3 teams that hold that pick and would they want B Schenn.
