You can thank Jimmy Howard for that. He's from NY so I blame the illuminati. You guys want him for one of your firsts? So then they could have 2 picks to try and move up for Werenski.

had the opportunity to see werenski play a couple times...beast
Sportsnet: Doug MacLean saying that he’s hearing rumblings that the Sabres could be looking to make a “big time run at somebody.” Possibly at the head coaching position, with Ted Nolan’s fate up in the air.

I hear the same sentiment from a friend who's a Red Wings fan. I think it'll take a few more decades or a string of Stanleys before Scotty Bowman's shadow doesn't skew the fan's opinion of whoever the head coach is at the time.

HEY LISTEN UP:
More than one of us remembers watching the puck sit motionless for an eternity, just outside the crease, under Rory Fitpatrick's legs, in Game 7 in Carolina, before GODDAMN Rod BrindAmour found it and tapped it in to kill us. Nobody I know was able to breathe while the thing sat there - and it seemed like hours. Afterwards, everyone of us died a little, some of us more than others.
This has been a really long season, an eternity in its own right. But it hasn't felt as long to me as it did when that (frank)ing puck was just sitting there. I have been able to breathe throughout the whole thing, and (as much as it scares the Buffalo sports fan in me to say this out loud) it's beginning to look like this eternity of waiting is going to have a far better result than that horrible night in front of my TV, feeling another chance slip away, that time in Raleigh GODDAMN Carolina.
Hang on, boys, it's almost over. There is joy around the corner. There is blood pumping, gut wrenching, life giving adrenaline, limitless passion and unparalleled joy. There's pacing back and forth in front of the screen, there's beating the back of the stranger next to you in the bar, there's high-fiving people all around at the end of the drama, there's pumping your fist at the sky and screaming for all that you're worth because you feel like the victory belongs in some way to you.
And its all right around the corner. It comes with winning, it comes as the beards get longer, it comes as the stitches multiply, and it comes as we get closer to the Cup. And my heavens, is it worth it.
