What a great time to excel at special teams, our PP & PK is respectable finally. The key here now is to stay healthy.

I am so excited to see Canucks vs Flames in the 1st round. Should be some very entertaining hockey to say the least. Both teams should be very proud considering at the beginning of the year, they weren't expected to make the playoffs.

Times are changing, LA is out, Boston is pretty much done and 4 (possibly 5) Canadian teams are in. Gotta love it!

60s and 70s HST was brilliant, afterwords, he was pretty hard to read.

As an aside, Ralph Steadman, the artist that did all of the illustrations for HST, does the labels for Flying Dog Ale (Colorado Brewery) and for a Cali winery (can't remember which). If you are a fan of his art style they make pretty cool souvenirs.

Edit:

It's Bonny Doon Vineyards. The first bottle of wine that I ever had. I bought it for the label and have been going strong ever since.

Boston & LA out is not going to make the league happy, therefore I'm ecstatic.

It'll be interesting to see if he can become a stealth offensive weapon.

- Carol Schram

I want him to be an offensive weapon.

Not sure about the stealth part, want him to be visible...

thank you for the blog. As soon as you mention the Canucks to most people it immediately puts a smile on their face. good times.

He's still young, but has shown he has skill. It might be a lot to ask this season, but you never know?

Yep, not bad.

I thought there was a good chance they would be in the playoffs, but not 2nd in the division, more fringe. but looking at the points- Canucks and Calgary aren't much removed from the fringe.

I am happy we are in and playing okay to good down the stretch.

To be fair I know how you feel ...I have little hatred for the canucks right now ...when they were good for a couple years and had a shot at the cup I hated ...now not so much

I'm sure a couple bieksa cross checks to johnny hockey and a Engelland sedin face wash will liven is up a little

- Redmile247

Whoa Whoa Whoa didn't you hear?? The sedins are goons now, Engelland better watch his step

fingers crossed that he develops into a top 6 player.

he seems a little tentative but is still new to the club and systems. He might have a little chemistry with Vey, they were passing it back and forth a bit.

Hope to see him get a few games in against Calgary and makes a good impression + shows the Flames what they gave up on.

Henrik has been a little more feisty lately in front of the net.

Vrbata has a little edge too. you stick him, he gives it right back.

Just want to say it was good to see Hamhuis score. The whole team seemed to want him to score and he was getting it a bit on the bench.

gave up on? they didn't give up on anything. he couldn't handle the fact that they were rewarding other young players that worked harder and had a better attitude. he told them he wasn't going to sign with the flames after this final year of his entry level ran out. sven couldn't handle not being given everything right off the bat.

look at the success the young players on the flames have had this season, from first liners to fourth liners and everywhere in between, and then tell me if you think sven wasn't given an opportunity, or didn't take advantage of the opportunity he was given.

i had high hopes for him, and i still think he could turn into a full time nhl'r, but in all honesty, and i'd say this to anyone who picked him up, not just the "hated" canucks, but if you're counting on sven for a specific role, you should have a backup plan.
