Eichel is Buffalo's type of player - RynoBull
We got the consolation prize one year. Didn't work out too bad. |

I was always expecting Eichel, but I have to say I was pretty disappointed listening to the drawing on the radio yesterday. Edmonton's forwards are gonna be STACKED if they don't trade anyone. |

In what world was Sidney Crosby the consolation prize? |

Clearly, the NHL does not want a team in Arizona.
At least you guys get Eichel. Great consolation prize, for a great fan base. Strome or Hanifin might be good, solid NHL players. Perhaps even all-stars. But they're not franchise saviors.

We got Malkin instead of OV even though we finished lower than the Caps. |

Bottom line is this, of all those years, Pittsburgh ended up with THE prize. Buffalo has not.
The Sabres are going to get what should be a great player, no doubt. The fact of the matter is, however, they lost out on the greater one. And that upsets me. |

Also, not that I think this is going to happen, but if McDavid does end up pulling a John Elway/Eric Lindros/Eli Manning, the Sabres have to be in the sweepstakes. If they don't make that trade, then either Philadelphia or Toronto will. |

Eichel is in the Joe Thornton mold imo. He's going to be great in Buffalo. Size, speed and good instincts. Buffalo is going to be dangerous withing 3 years. Only thing I think they should have done was kept Myers and tried to build a better D with him. He's a hard player to replace when he's on his game. |

Here's hoping he has far more "clutch" than Joe Thornton does. |

I've heard Boston media compare Eichel to Mike Modano.
While Modano wasn't Gretzky, he was still a HOF franchise player.
So maybe Eichel isn't the "Greatest Hockey Player Of All Time"...
But maybe he could be the "Greatest American Hockey Player Of All Time"?
Man, that'd be sweet!! |

Im in a very small minority on this, but I think Eichel is going to thrive in Buffalo maybe to the point that McDavid would have. The center's in the east are a bit smaller, and he should be imposing his will on the Deharnais and Bozaks in no time. |

Modano was America's Gretzky. People would come regardless of how bad the team was just to see him skate. If Eichel can put on the type of show Modano did in his prime, then Buffalo will be enjoying something special for a long time! |

I could care less if hes the greatest anything all time, except most cup wins all time
But seriously, with a solid core of players around him, the right coach and motivation and he'll write his own ticket when needed. |

That's my point. You have no idea how this will turn out. We were all upset about missing out on OV and we ended up with (at times) is the better player. Art Ross winner, Calder winner, Conn Smythe winner, Hart winner. Nobody was predicting that going into the draft.

Buffalo will take Eichel and tell him to stay in college. This will facilitate picking again in the one two slot in next year's draft. |
