Cassels will be a nice addition to the bottom six, which we have a ton of already, but it is nice that he's a Canuck draft pick. He does look like he needs to work on his skating though.

I only hope and pray Horvat McCann & Cassels can be a good 1-2-3 punch down the middle.

Carol, what are you bringing back for all of us in terms of souvenirs n such? perhaps a few bobbleheads? some Slovakian sausages? a mould of Jagr's mullet? babooshkas, phallic marionettes?

Sounds like you are having a very enjoyable experience. Hope you've had a little chance to sight-see as well

Thanks for keeping up with the blogs despite your European work-load

I haven't done any souvenir shopping at all. Went by the event's merch tent yesterday, but it was closed because it was an off-day. I'll try again tomorrow—before the games, I guess.

I definitely want to get one of those cool hats that the Czech fans wear.

I have squeezed in a little bit of sightseeing. Went to Prague Castle today and have done the Charles Bridge and the Old Town area. The tourist areas are crowded and expensive compared to our nice little working-class neighbourhood here by the arena—about 15 minutes from the city centre by Metro.

I'll probably still be talking about this for awhile after I get home, so I'll save some of my sociocultural impressions for a future blog...

Thanks for sharing. It sounds like you're really taking it all in (is this your first time overseas?) and have had a full itinerary. It's great you're able to get in some sight-seeing, as Prague is such a beautiful city and has so many artistic and architectural elements, and such a rich historical background. Hopefully you'll be able to snag yourself one of them thaire fancy hats and maybe get it autographed by Team Canada!

And looking forward to your comments on the cultural aspects vs that of North America. I think people don't realize how passionate European fans can be (the only thing I hate with regards to Euro hockey is the obnoxious and egregious advertising all over the team's uniforms (are they actually big sellers?).

Enjoy the rest of your stay and what I'm sure will be a fantastic final!

PS. please note my favourite colour is black (yes, I know it's technically not a colour) and my size is L or XL . I also would like one of them thaire fancy hats you mentioned (my hat size is gigantus-block-head). Don't worry about wrapping anything up, though

Lefty,

Our entire makeup of forwards are bottom 6 with the exception of the Sedins and Horvat.

There is going to be plenty of opportunity for McCann, Cassels and Virtanen to get in the lineup soon enough. Hopefully Gaunce and Jensen too if they aren't busts at the NHL level...

There is Vrbata as well (top 6), but, his value is as high as it's ever gonna get, I'd look at moving him if the return was there.

I think they'll do it at the draft if a player they want is available at where the potential trade partner is picking; Otherwise, TDL.

We desperately need a number 1 defenseman in the system. And a #1 future center. And a couple top wingers. And some big dmen to clear the front of the net. And....ah (frank)

I have high hopes for Cassels. Think he could have been a steal. Subban falls under that category aswell.

Outside of Horvat, three years from now is pretty much a hope and a prayer with all these kids.

True - at least we have the eternal hope & a prayer. Truthfully a healthy strong farm system leads itself to better young players coming up.
