I never thought Babcock would ever go there. I think this was a better move than hiring an ex-Flyer to the position.

I love this move. Starting over. No coach that was a flyer at some point in time. I coulda been vanna white , as long as it's not a former flyer !

I haven't looked at contracts or analyzed any Flyers players of late. What do you think is fair for Oshie straight up?

I like the hiring from him not being another's teams left overs or a former flyer player. Bit nervous on no nhl experience but good hockey minds will succeed. Let's hope he continues his growth as a good hockey mind.

It wouldn't work. The Flyers are committed to their top two RWs (Voracek and Simmonds), and Oshie is too good to play third line. I'd love to see Oshie on the Flyers, but it won't happen. Maybe Shattenkirk and Oshie for Simmonds.

I'm actually a little excited and optimistic about this hiring.. The guy has college credentials, and that doesn't mean squat when translating to the NHL, but I think it's a great foundation, and the thing that has me most excited - it's a fresh new take. No re-treads, no ex-Flyer, etc. Fresh blood, from a rarely-traveled path. Could it go wrong? Sure. But could it be a diamond in the rough, and make Hextall look like a genius? Absolutely. All we can do is be optimistic, and give the guy some time to settle in and establish his system and the players he needs.

The only thing that worries me a little/the most, is how his coaching methodology will translate onto NHL players. Coaching 18 - 24 year olds in college is a heck of a lot different than coaching 18-40 year olds in the NHL with bigger egos and bigger attitudes, sometimes. It will be interesting to see how effective he can transition his style, and how the guys respond to him.

not sure you'd get shattenkirk alone for simmonds, let alone oshie and shattenkirk.

Nope.. as much as I like Simmonds, I just don't think he's worth Shattenkirk straight up. But I'm also as much of a Shatter fan as I am Simmonds.

I'd love to get Shattenkirk. Flyers would have to give up a lot to get him though and I don't see that happening.

Not enough. We traded Jv-gd-R for Luke.. Nashville would have to sweeten the deal.

I would love to see Simmonds as a Blue but not at the expense of Shatty.
