Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Ghosts of Players Past Including a Sestito Sighting As the Vancouver Canucks continue their rebuild, two of their former players—Ryan Kesler and Jason Garrison—are now both one game away from advancing to the Stanley Cup Final.

And I figured the Sestito sighting would have been at Vantel's house.

People here will hate on Vey, but hes a young piece that could still pan out while also creating an opening on a crowded and aging defensive core. The lack of forward depth had him in more situations he wasn't suited or ready for, I am optimistic he will make strides next season

Kinda worries me that we have Horvat, Cassels and McCann to line up against McJesus, RNH and Drasaitle in the not too distant future.

I don't begrudge Kesler for wanting to move on, it happens all the time in most peoples professions. I've worked for six major Oil & Gas companies over the past 25 years…free will is a wonderful thing.

Do I think Kes is a major POS as a player, sure, but it's hard to argue he's not performing really really well in the playoffs.

And rightfully so! That said, we haven't picked as high as them so there's not much the Canucks can do about it until they take a step back or get extremely lucky in the draft or a trade.

In all seriousness, what do you guys think it would take to get LD out of EDM or SR out of Buff? Both may be acquirable from either team as they have Mcdavid and Eichel.

I wish I shared that same optimism. His upper body is weak as hell.

You're going to really hate it next year then when Baertschi Grenier and Clendenning make the roster

Nope, I like those 3 so far. Especially Baertschi. Vey looked like a small/weak 4th liner, if those guys do the same next year then I'll probably be down on them as well.

I know I'm going to get burned for this and I realize I am in the minority here but I'm happy for Kesler and enjoy watching him have success against the Hawks.

Ya it sucks that he only gave one team(although he reportedly gave CHI as well) but that was his right as stipulated in his contract, I can't blame a player for the NTC that is on mgmt, specifically Gillis.

Kesler was one of my favorite players when he was here, and the team misses his hard-nosed play and secondary scoring. He deserves to play with a talented team and he is delivering. Too bad Benning wasn't able to get a better return for him but that's life and I still can't blame Kesler for that.

2 of them have already made the roster, there is no way that Benning lets Clendening or Baertschi walk.

Grenier looks like he has cemented a contract but mgmt might be more willing to risk him through waivers if he is beaten out in camp by another guy.

You think that whoever you get at 9 will have more upside than LD or is Braun the sticking point?

I think Edm asks for Horvat and maybe they throw in a 2nd. Not that I would risk the potential of LD over the more sure thing in Horvat, but I think that is what it would take.

I think he is weak in general. I think he has to know that and the team probably told him that. My optimism comes from a full offseason in the league with minimal impact and realizing that he'll be pressbox material if he doesnt put on the muscle. We have seen a few players have miraculous offseasons, adding a ridiculous 15lbs so why not him??

Because the players who are able to add that weight usually already have the frame, Vey doesn't.

I honestly think his weight isn't the issues, it is his foot speed, it is really hard to make it in the NHL as an undersized player if you can't play at high speed.

Horvat who was criticized for his speed and skating looks much more fleet of foot than Vey. It will be interesting how Cassels and Gaunce who as well are not known for speed will compare to Vey in camp next fall.
