$5M/yr for 5 years for a point-every-other-game player? That's insanity. |

Based on the claims that Petry would have gotten $6m/yr for 6 years on July 1st, I'd bet Frolik will get $5.5m/yr long term. He's not worth a dollar more than $4.5m/yr. |

I'm hoping the Sharks make a run at him, good two way forward for our top 6 put him on the 2nd line with Logan. |

He will probably get 5/$25M on the open market, but that doesn't mean he is worth it. Something like 4/$16M would be fair for the Jets but even that is borderline. |

the Jets have played the Frolic scenario as best they can. He was probably asking for too much last off season hence why he didnt get a longer deal. He couldn't be traded at the deadline because we are a play off team and now he is asking for way too much!! Let some other team regret signing him in a year or two. i think Burmi will take his place quite nicely.
I aslo wouldnt over pay for Stafford, no way he's worth 5 mil for 5 years either!!
let the Free agency play out a bit and grab another steal like Perrault or let our young kids like Armia, Petan, Copp, Lemiux, Lipon, kosmachuck, Ehlers, De Leo, and whoever we draft this year battle it out
Going to be one hell of a Jets camp this year |

What a horrible list of players you have compiled. All of them are a downgrade.
Joel Ward ? erik condra ? mike santorelli ?
that is a laughable group of fully declined players.
gold luck with trying to make he playoffs with other teams discarded garbage. |

If the Jets have to pay Frolik $5M for 5 years then don't let the door hit you on the way out. He's a good player, lots of versatility but he isn't a necessary piece that is can't be replaced. I also wouldn't expect any splashes in free agency to replace him if does walk. If they were going to do that they may as well just overpay Frolik.
Chevy has built a prospect pool from empty cupboards to an envy of a lot of teams. He can either trade from there or have them compete for jobs. Chevy is going to have to pay the likes of Trouba and Scheifle to long term deals soon and paying Frolik what he is asking for would be bad business. |

Yeah i got ya, all the opportunity with fashion/modeling on the left coast.
I'm trying to sell other Sharks fans on Frolik, most i think are digging the idea especially having him on Logan's line as his RW.
Just tell Tim this would excellent move for the Sharks. |

Good, solid player....but also replaceable. His 2 pals - Pavs and Tlusty will be following him out the door. Lots of young forwards in our system to take his place. |

This truly is a conundrum.
Most Hawks fans were not pleased when Frolik was traded but understood the necessity of the trade. The argument I hear here are similar: he can be replaced. Well, the Hawks kind of replaced him, but boy do we wish he was still back in Chicago. So now the questions for Winnipeg are: what's the absolute maximum you're willing to pay for Frolik to stay? And if you say to hell with it, let him walk - then who's the replacement? |

This may be the summer where a RFA actually gets an offer sheet or two. The UFA market is not great but if you want to be bold (and be hated by all other teams for 10 year)....make an offer on Derek Stephan, Mikkel Boedeker, Nazim Kadri or Carl Hagelin...at least there is potential long term value. |

Hey Pete,
Great article as always. Frolik is an awesome player and there is no denying that. As I have stated before, Frolik and Tlusty are probably going to pull what Grabovski and Kulemin did last summer when they signed together.
I think the only way you convince Frolik to stay is by offering him and Tlusty a deal where they can play together.
Also, we should trade Byfuglien. The more I think of it, the more it make sense |

The Hawks will have to move salary. Any interest in trading for Sharp or Bickell? Don't know that the Hawks would trade in the division, but Sharp would look good in Jet Blue.
Bruins are against it too, Soderberg is a much cheaper possibly equivalant player, and the Blues look to shake things up a bit, Oshie? ......Malkin on the block, Nash?
I'm a closet Jet fan, had them losing to the Bolts in the Finals, and I don't want to see Frolik signed at that money over that term. A couple years maybe, 5 years no way. |
