Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Buzz on First Town Hall Meeting, A Look At Salary Cap As the 2014-15 season concluded with a Stanley Cup win by the Chicago Blackhawks, the Vancouver Canucks brass was meeting with season-ticket holders to discuss the team's future. It's a future that can't really be charted until GMs find out the salary cap ceiling for next season.

40/1 Is a realistic evaluation. I also agree with EDM at 33/1. One team trending upward the other...

Those odds mean next to nothing, NHL fans know who the good teams are.

fact of the day.... you need to make the playoffs in order to have a chance at the Stanley Cup.

If 40:1 is realistic, and it is, why did we extend Dorsett and Sbisa?

So do the Coaches, Scouts, GM's. 40/1 Suggests the same result as the past season, or hopefully worse. Could you imagine the squirming those guys will do at their next Town Hall meeting when someone points out how the team is viewed by the oddsmakers! Remember Aquilini is very concerned about public perception, insulting odds like this fuel the fire. As they should.

NO! We just need to BELIEVE. Anything CAN happen

All joking aside most of us here know what this team needs.

Looking at the D-Core Benning had in Boston I am certain there is a plan in place.

All we can do is sit back and watch.... Then second guess the Sh!t out of them.

We really do know.

Traditionally, we have great seasons after the Hawks win the cup so at 40/1 the time is now to buy that $1000 Vegas ticket on the Nucks for the Cup next year!

Right?

Putting EDM odds on ahead of CGY for winning the cup next year is silly. WPG's odds are equally odd. What odds can I get to bet against either of those teams winning the cup because I'm all in.

I don't think Aquilini is concerned about public perception, the public's money yeah. I hope this 40/1 team has real problems selling tickets next year, then we might see some real concern from Aquilini. The on ice product hasn't changed in 4 yrs, this years excitement came from the youth, will FA see that I doubt it.

WPG's prospect list is very impressive it stands to reason that in a few seasons..they could be the most competetive team for awhile.

I have no problem with the Oil being ahead of Calgary on the odds. They are only two DMEN and a starting goalie away from being VERY competitive. On paper they still have a better team than the Flames which is where alot of the oddsmaking #s come from.

Are they having focus groups beyond the town halls?

Really wonder what the public perception is? Are Higgins and Bieksa such fan faves that JB has no plans to trade? Are they FA faves?

Sometimes I wonder if they poll season ticket holders and there are a bunch there who have Higgins sweaters or something. Might be more the reason to trade them and sell some new shirts.

Keep at it and your skull will feel like it is stuffed with cotton candy and it will creak as you try to think of anything serious or important.

But the food and wine is good too.

I was in Vegas in Nov. of 95 and put $100 on the Avalanche to win the cup at 9/1, only sports book bet I've ever made. 23 days later the Roy trade went down and I almost crapped myself. I had to go back the following Jan. for business and $900.

I would love to see it drop to 68, maybe GM's would stop handing out ridiculous contracts.

There was a lot of speculation months ago that there was potential that the cap would drop or stay the same and yet Bettman continued to claim it would rise at the same growth as last year.

The players can't be too stoked that they have been handing back 12%, 14% and then 16% of their salary over the last 18 months.

A lot of fanfare was made of the Sedin's donating 1.5 million to the BC Childrens Hospital when they signed their 5 year 30.5 million deals in 2010.

Last season alone they would of donated ~ 2 million back to the league between the two of them.... how generous.
