I can't see any team in the top 10 giving up their pick to Buffalo unless #2 or somebody like Reinhart or Girgensons comes back the other way.

Its a nice idea. I dont think our late 1st and two 2nds gets us into the top 12 this year. I think its gonna cost something that would hurt a lot more- like next years first, or a young core player. I think 15 is about as high as we will be able to move up- without having to add something ridiculous. Hey, hope im wrong.

Shero said he was open to move up or down but hadn't had any conversations with gma yet. What would you give up to get to 6 ? Keep in mind any defense man are likely low in interest to us. ( I threw out the idea of the 21st plus grigo for 6 but am not longer sure if I like that for nj after the responses from sabres fans lol ).

Honestly, I wouldn't give up anything near what a GM that isn't intentionally looking to get fired should demand for it, which would include another top 10 pick and/or an already drafted top 10 pick or top tier prospect/roster player.

If its a #1 center youre looking for, youre probably better off taking zacha or barzal at 6, or hoping marner or strome drops out of the top 5- which they almost certainly wont. We will draft eichel and we already have reinhart, neither of those would be moved for the 6th OA. If jersey has a top 6 spot to guarantee grigorenko for a whole season, its worth calling murray and seeing what it would take. Im guessing a second and a good prospect gets him to listen. Maybe youre buying low, maybe youre overpaying- one things for sure- #1 centers dont grow on trees and grigorenko has a high ceiling.

Ya, I'm with you.
I would love for them to move into 6th and draft Provonov, but I just don't see any team trading out of the top 10 this year. Too many very good prospects in all positions, such that those GMs can meld BPA with Need to fill holes.

I hear ya...wasn't saying hodgson was the key...nor did I invoke feasibility studies as to the odds of murray actually being able to move up...just think a d-man like Provorov would be a player worth going after in that range if murray could find a willing trade partner
