I would love it. But we haven't "won" a trade in so long I'm a pessimist.

EDIT: Haggerty, was mentioning Lucic for Yandle being mentioned. OR Lucic for Edler, Bieska, or Hamhuis.

Interesting proposition. I think they would need to add another piece (highly touted prospect/young roster player or next year's 1st) and Maloney would have to at least consider. Good read. Nice to see a realistic proposition that would work for both teams.

Krejci and lucic get it done. Plus you get a lot of cap savings getting rid of those two.

I think you'd have to add in another prospect at the very least

And our first?

Even if it was just for those two it would be tough to swallow without getting a potential "top line center" from the draft. I.e. Strome.

If the Brutes want a realistic chance at 3, they have to trade up to top ten, and then trade up to 3, which means striking a deal with NJ, Philly, CBJ, or SJ...

Honestly, I would think that they'd have their eyes realistically on Crouse since he's their bread and butter and Neely expressed keen interest in restoring that identity in Boston.

But if so, I'm pretty sure that Arizona's going to get better offers from candidates like NJ, CBJ, and Philly simply because they're higher up the chain... NJ wants Marner and I'm pretty sure that CBJ and Philly are also gunning for one of the higher two d-men (Provorov/Hanifin), neither of whom I see falling to seven unless NJ stands pat at six, which I don't see them doing.

So if Boston wants Hanifin, the price might simply be too high.

Arizona won't pay a deadweight contract like Savard's

[Edit] sure they are well below the cap floor but they only have 11 roster spots filled at the moment

Not sure the price would be very enticing. I would think Lucic, Subban and the 14th would be the minimum cost. Could throw in savards contract as a win-win for both clubs. That would get the Yotes 10mil closer to the floor.

More than likely a player like Koko, Morrow, or even spooner would be included in that deal.

Who knows though, I am sure that other teams could offer up a more attractive package for the 3rd overall.

The actual money paid is next to nothing. It's a matter of carrying the cap hit.

I like it. A lot. To me, Zane as the next goalie to compete for a job in Boston, not Malcolm. No heartburn if he were to leave town. Savard contract going to Phoenix makes all the sense in the world, and as you mentioned trading up in the draft for a local boy will have the fans salivating. That would be as much a good PR move for Sweeney as it would be a smart hockey trade. The time to trade Lucic is now, as everyone knows we're trying to change the teams identity and style. It starts with the lumbering giant with declining production on the top line. Moving Lucic is a statement by Sweeney that he is actually committed to changing the Bruins style of hockey.

Only question if this trade were to happen.... who do we fill the top line LW position with? Please don't say Reilly Smith.... We would either need to look for a top 6 forward via trade, or pray that Connolly/Pasta become the real deal this season. In my opinion they won't be, and we would need to bring in some help.

Why I say "Brutes" endearingly! I love watching Boston play! They were on my short list of teams I actually like watching in the playoffs.

Ericksson.......? He is a lefty and has played there before, PLUS he is going to produce, point wise, just as much if not more than Lucic did in that spot. SECOND PLUS, Krejci seemed to really be excited to play with him last pre-season, another skill type player on his wing so he, Krejci, could, "score more goals."

Although I would like to see Ericksson play on Spooners LW with Pasta.
EDIT: That's a solid second line, not just a good third.

jeez, just looked at his actual salary, no cap circumvention there...

Still I don't think they'll need his cap hit, they could trade for relatively useful players for next to nothing (i.e Nikita Nikitin and a 5th for a 7th) just because teams need the cap space.

I would be shocked if Arizona swapped picks with Boston. They are picking third for a reason and reason would tell me they won't go past #10 in this year's draft.

In theory that could work, but that Krejci/Ericksson combo didn't last for a reason. I don't see Louie as a top line guy, and I would prefer to see him skate with Spooner and Pasta given his responsibility on D and veteran presence on the ice. I also see Smith staying with Bergeron and Marchand, meaning the top line is Kreijci /Connolly and ???. Unless we beefed up our offer to Pheonix and got a forward in return, I see a hole.
