I really like Sharp but I would like to see them pass on him.
Getting Tikhonov would be a nice pickup. |

i don't understand how the fans think (and the Blackhawks pretend to think) they're going to get a ton of assets for this guy. Why trade for the guy when there are guys almost as good as him in FA for the same $$ and not having to give up assets.
During an offseason, it's stupid to give up assets for guys who already are making the money that they would fetch on the open market. Because you can just go on the open market for a deal like that, and not have to give up anything.
It makes more sense to give up assets for expensive guys at the trade deadline because there isn't a pool of FA to choose from then. Sellers' market. But in the offseason, only guys who make *less than* what they are worth (ELC guys) really make sense to give up assets for. because they are actual assets.
I'd much rather see 4 or so Million go to Justin Williams and not have to give up assets. |

What type of numbers do you think Sharp could put up with
either Crosby or Malkin plus he's younger.
Toews is a great 2 way center but he isn't an assist man.

I agree, no Sharp. If he was a UFA, maybe. But there's always a premium to be paid for someone who just won the cup, and I don't want to see the Pens sacrifice their few picks/prospects/young players to help perpetuate Chicago's cycle of having a bounty of young talent.
Plus, it's hard to get young guys to want to come to your team if you keep bringing in expensive veterans to play in front of the young guys you already have. |

You have to hope he will sign or else there's nothing left in the FA market.

What the Hawks really want is much lower than what they're asking. Negotiating 101.
Some ppl just believe everything they hear.

yes and that's when you go to the trade market and consider... for lack of a better phrase... losing a trade on purpose.

Hey
Not trolling..
I guess the only reason why anyone would give up assets for Sharp or anyone else in his position is to get the guy before anyone has a chance to. If the Pens want him bad enough then they will do just that..... no??
Good luck in the offseason. I will go back to being a douche during the season
Enjoy your summer |

I'm all for not stopping the search for a top 6 winger, but Sharp should not be the target. Plus it is asking a lot for someone who never played the North American game to come over and be a lock for top 6 minutes. |
|
|
|
A few of my top 6 forward trade target wants in no order:
Oshie, Drouin, Skinner, a Detroit forward, Rychel (top 9?), Yakupov, Boedker
On the fence with Kassian and also leaning towards no for Semin.
Forwards I don't want: Sharp, Kessel and Vrbata |

I still want tlusty and I'll take either boedker or kadri.
Reason I want kuni gone is age and cap hit. Plus I feel having kuni and dupuis on this team. They won't be 3rd line guys where they should be playing. Did will want them on top line and coaches will give in. This isn't 3-4 yes ago. They are not the best line anymore.
Plus kuni and spaling could fetch a 2nd+ to some teams with 2 2nd rd picks.
Dump scuds for an RFA rights and sutter for another pick. Let the kids play. Look at TB and Chicago. They let the youth play and learn from their mistakes. |

Also, we all were ragging on Ruth and the Pens for not going after any college/foreign free agents and I think he's done a pretty good job so far. He got Niclas Anderson last week, and likely the two Russian forwards. We were also in the running for Reilly and Panarin. I cant think of any other free agents that were big names but hats off to Ruth so far. Just imagine if we got all 5 though... There's your rebuild on the fly. I feel like this will be a great off season. I'd have to say this is probably the biggest off season yet for 87 and 71's careers. |

Outside of Saad and TT the hawks didn't have anybody else under the age of 22
and Saad has been in the league since the 12-13 season.
The Hawks have traded a few their young players like Pirri , Hayes and Dahlstrom. |

I doubt anyone gives a second for Spaling.
I don't understand the love for Tlusty. He really isn't a productive player. His best career season was the shortened season, 23-15-38 in 48 games. His best full season was 17-19-36 in 79 games and neither of those years Carolina was bad. His numbers are so ho-hum, its not funny.

I agree it is great that Rutherford and the Penguins are exploring the Russian market. It is very obvious that there will be players who want out of the KHL due to the economic conditions in Russia. It would be wise to taper expectations because the best Russian/European players are already in the NHL. Having said that, there is no reason some of these guys can't come over here and produce at the NHL level. You do not have to look long to find plenty of good players who were never drafted or skipped over in their first year of eligibility. |

I'd rather have Michael Frolik then Jiri Tlusty.
