What's the story on McGinn? He only played 19 games last year. Is he basically a 3rd line plugger?

Essentially. . He can sub on 2nd line duties time to time but don't expect amazing things. He will hold his own but that's about it.

He was a great 3rd liner and living in N.Cal as a Sharks fan my entire life, he was liked here too. Sad to see him go.. good guy and you'll like him.

Tell him to stop hitting posts.

Mcginn is the ideal 3rd liner. Fans will love him in buffalo. Type of player that can slide up and down the lineup.

Yep.. perfect 3rd liner.. sucks to lose a guy who basically knew his role and would score you a solid 20g a year and would chip in some clutch ones.

Bah.

I think we should hold off on too many signings this off season, Sekera is who we should go after. Imagine in a year.

Tanguay-Duchene-Iginla
Landeskog-MacKinnon-Radulov
Rantanen-Soderberg-Hishon
McLeod-Mitchell-Everberg

Sekera-Johnson
Zaderov-Barrie
Bigras-Holden/Stuart etc...

Varlamov

Of course we'd have to land Sekera and the Radulov rumor would have to be true, but that's a much better lineup from top to bottom. I had no faith in our bottom 6 the last couple of years.

i am not happy with buffalo or armstrong right now. armstrong over pays and now murray is giving away talent for players he likes. ROR is not worth all that gold and loot the Avs stole from them.

Whoa whoa whoa... stole gold from Buffalo? In order to be gold you would have to be proven. I like Grigorenko and hoped him rhe best but his demands of a 1 way contract and threatening to go to the KHL killed his chances here. He was just plain lazy here in buff on the ice. Zadorov is a young punishing kid who I had high hopes for but he was late numerous times and was suspended and then he partied too hard over the all star break back in Russia and missed his flight. Just not good signs. Compher has great promise but is not signed and has a 2C top ceiling. With ROR, Reinhart, Girgensons, Eichel, and Legwand not to mention younger guys like Larsson and Foligno who can play pivot he just didn't have any place to go.

Stealing gold is not what I would call a group of what ifs and hopefuls

Was McGinn hurt? Or just scratched that many games? Because it says he only played 19 games last year..

This would be a Cup contending team. Wonder how Hishon would do switching to wing. Only real Achilles heel would be 3rd pairing at this point.

Perron and others have been called out for being late when young before. 6'5" offensively capable dmen grow on trees in murray land. he is going to run the cap up when over pays for players like ROR and get us closer to another lockout.

he also went for evander kane which makes no sense he gives a crap about a guy being late when kane is oldr and still acts like a punk.

it is stealing gold when you give up that much. just like when he overpaid for an unproven in robin who is also coming off of an injury. you would think seeing a huge goalie who failed to live up to expectations first hand would have made him think, gee i could draft a goalie, make a far less costly trade for someone prove or sign one in free agency.

i used to lve the sabres, first jersey family is from there, until garth and then murray. if murray is anything like his uncle he will be sure to screw something up.

You're being harsh on the sabres return. ROR is a great player who will be a good piece moving forward. Were you expecting Murray to dress all young players and gionta/legwand? You need the skilled prime players to help show the young guns.

Buffalo took the Russian factor off their team. We gave up prospects for proven NHL talent. Fans seem to either love the moves or absolutely hate the Tim Murray trades. But we are fans and the experts are calling the Sabres the big winner of the day. So I am excited and I hope the Ave have success with their new found gold.

Sabres might be one of my favorite teams out of the east now after these trades. As much as I hated the drama every offseason with O'Reilly, I'm sad to see him go and hope him and McGinn have a lot of success with the new team.

Right now, both teams should be happy as they seemed to get what they needed out of this deal. It's going to take a few seasons to see if Zadorov and Grigorenko hit their potential and JT Compher could very easily sign somewhere else as a free agent if he plays all four years at Michigan.

I think its really gonna help grigorenko being back with roy. He hadn't shown much here but he is talented. Zadorov on the other hand is tough to swallow. Yeah he was late a few times and he missed a flight cause the company overbooked it and bumped him. Hes still raw and was a bit of a project when drafted but hes still got top 4 potential.
