Hey James,
Good read.
How much do you think Semin will be worth for a 1 year contract?
What do you think would be a fair return from Calgary if they go for Kessel. I persoanly hope it does not happen.
Cheers. |

However, if Murphy and/or Gormley continue to struggle, a guy like more is a nice replacement/motivator to have around. - James Tanner

Martin Jones has proven he''s a quality NHL back-up capable of matching the play of a better than average starter. - James Tanner

The most likely scenario - that he's alright, the Sharks finish just out or just inside the Playoffs and continue to build their team confident they have a decent goalie is easily worth a mid-first. - James Tanner

I can't see the Leafs moving Kessel to the Flames unless they were getting back Bennett or someone similar. The Leafs have to hit a homerun here and get back at least one player who can eventually be on Kessel's level.
As for Semin, I guess $3.5 for a one year deal. |

If you mispell More, it doesn't show up in spellcheck.
If you add an extra apostorphe, it's pretty clearly a typo.
You're actually wrong about the last one, but I put a comma there to clear up what I meant.
Sheesh, two typos in a 1000 words off the top of my head in twenty minutes. That's actually impressive.
And you didn't even give me five minutes to read it over and double check it, which I was doing when you were slagging me for two typos and incorrectly pointing out a third. |

Pound-for-pound I would say that Alex Semin is the softest player I have ever seen play hockey in my entire life. How a man of his size can play any game, any sport, or do anything really, with that level of apprehension and fear is completely beyond me. I have seen him play in person more than a few times and he is a surprising human specimen.
He should not be paid money to play any professional sport really, because it is an attitude and a way of carrying himself as a pro that simply cannot be on display in front of rookies and it just annoys the vets and ultimately divides a locker room.
Semin is one of the most perplexing professional athletes that has played pro sports...
...in my not so humble opinion.
I think it's a fantastic decision to buy this guy out. Cancer has to be eradicated...cut out. |

Ahh I see what you mean about the last one. I didn't mind the blog, I just kept stumbling on a bunch of seemingly 'stream-of-consciousness' type wordings, similar to the last one.
Basically, it read like it was written how it was written (in 25 minutes off the top of your head).

So keep a guy because of some Corsi #?
Good thing hockey people are still running teams.

They do have a way of pointing out whether a given outcome is likely to be repeated.
In Semin's case, this season will likely be significantly better than last. Some team will benefit from that... I still don't want it to be my team, because I don't like his character... but it's worth pointing out nonetheless. |

Great pick up for Calgary but you can't blame Boston IMO

Meh, not sure I agree....he played with some good players, pretty sure that will pad some stats but time will tell - wouldn't doubt he slips over to the KHL |

The "quote" feature doesn't work, so here goes...
While you were defending your spelling errors, you managed to misspell "apostrophe". Just piling on James...I'm always on your side!! |

You think Semin will have many offers in the NHL?

Someone will take a flyer on him. Unlike past snipers with poor underlying stats (Setoguchi, Heatley, etc.) he actually has good possession numbers and there are clubs out there paying attention to that now. |
