I'd be much happier with this lineup going into the season. Welp beaten by Aaron. |

I was just going to suggest we trade him to the Bruins for Pasta. |

I was really disappointed with the drop off in Holden's play last season, he showed he can be a liability at times on D. I'd like to see him supplant either Holden or Guenin |

Pasta and what? I don't think some noodles are going to get us a borderline AHL player. Though I do make some mean spaghetti |

With
Beachemin - Johnson
Zadorov - Barrie
Stuart - Bigras
Holden - Gueinin
Redmond
The Avs actually have a respectful d-core right now. If Zadarov becomes a solid top-4 next season, as he's projected to be, playing with Barrie is a huge advantage and with talents of Mackinnon, Duchene, Landeskog etc. Zadarov is surely capable of playing 20 minutes a night, being solid on the PK and putting up 30 points in the NHL. Huge piece in the Ryan O'Reilly deal (Grigorenko a steal too with Roy as coach) JT Compher The Avs probably have the pieces that's capable of making the playoffs in a tough west. Go Devils... |

I wish he'd get the primetime gig at the Denver Post instead of the current morons, Rick was great covering the Avs glory years for the better rag, the Rocky Mountain News, back in the day. But then we'd just get someone incompetent here on Hockeybuzz (god forbid!) - Footer52
Yeah if he left I'd probably come back to write here. Everyone just supress that shudder you just experienced and rejoice that Sadowski is here.

I really like the idea of pairing Stuart with Bigras. Some people like to trash Stuart but when he plays 100% within his role, he can be a rock-solid, minute-munching defensemen. He just has to make sure not to over commit and get caught up ice. The times he got in trouble last year was when he let people get behind him. He just doesn't have the makeup speed to get back into position.
Redmond is a bit of an enigma. I think he'll really benefit from his time last year and should be even more consistent this year.
Personally, I don't like ANY lineup that contains either Holden or Guenin. I *know* Roy... He IS going to give those two a chance and we'll probably see WAY more of them than we can stand (especially early in the season). I just don't see either of them turning the corner. They both progressively got WORSE last season. I'd like to have dollar for every time I saw one of those two standing still in front of Varly and just *watching* the puck go in the net. *Shudder*... They both give me the heebie-jeebies every time they are on the ice. |

I think we'll see a better Stuart than we did last year. That's not saying much but if he knows that he's the 3rd pairing and he's there to maybe carry a youngster, i'm all for that. Sitting Holden and Guenin would be great and I really didn't like what I saw out of Redmond the more he played.

But at least with a healthy line up, we wont see both Guenin and Holden. EJ, Barrie, Zads, Beuachemin, Stuart....he isnt going to sit any of those guys. So those 2 garbage pail kids have to fight it out with Elliott, Bigras, Seiemens, Redmond for that 6th spot.
I honestly think by the end of this year we wont have etiher those 2 on the roster. Guenin contract is done and Holden can be bought out, waived, etc...w/ 2 years left its a bit more palatable to do those kind of moves.
I like how Roy and Sakic said they reason they went for Beauchemin was they wanted a Top pair guy at the right term. They wanted to keep flexibility in roster space for our prospects. If they already have that mind frame, I fully believe they will the same when it comes to Guenin and Holden, they wont take up a space if we have our own home grown guys coming up. |

Im still on the train of signing another Dman on a 1 year deal ,if cheap, to help with the depth
Ehrhoff on a 1 year deal like ehe did in Pitts would be amazing...doubt it he does that, but that would make things feel really solid especially if injury hits and we dont have to call up guenin or holden into the active line up (one gets pushed into the minors), plus it takes the pressure off Bigras (we dont have to rush him now with Zads)
Beuach EJ
Zads Barrie
Ehrhoff Redmond
(Stuart is injured in my world ) |

He hurt his back in training camp from shaking his fist too hard and yelling at the young defensemen who wouldn't get off his lawn. He might be out a while. |

matt irwin 1 year 800k deal with the Bruins...oh man that would have been the ideal pick up that I would have wanted to see the Bruins do. Cheap 1 year deal to push guenin and holden further away |
