The bar chart graph is too difficult to read. I'm glad Sutter is another team's problem. It'll be interesting to see what happens with his contract. Still can't believe that trade happened. Glad Clendening is RH too.

The constant jabs in the blogs at people that don't agree with you is quite humorous.

Though, I agree the Penguins found a way to get depth players without making a ridiculous trade involving Malkin. Now, fingers crossed these depth players are as good as everyone is making them out to be.

People didn't need the second coming of Jordan Staal. They wanted better than a version of Max Lapierre with a good wrist shot from the wing for 3.3M.

Clendening appears to be a #6, but when he comes cheap that's good. I'd like to see the guy get a shot. Too bad we have a logjam of D contracts right now, scuderi.

Devils bought out Zubrus? Back below the floor I think. Someone call Ray!

I'm telling you something is gonna happen soon with Scuds and NJ. May not even need to include the second now, who knows with how crazy this offseason has been.

Carry over from last blog-

Today @ 11:52 AM ET

I'd just like to keep our 1-3 picks going forward in less it's In a kessel type deal. I'm not all in on franson so signing him isn't as important to me as others
- dbell646

I understand your reasoning, but we will be stuck with Scuds after the season when Maatta, Perron, BB and Plot need extended. That could be upwards on 12 million depending on how they pan out. Take away what they make now and your left with around a 5-6 million increase in cap from them alone. If Plot and BB don't pan out, we will need to sign others or make call ups, which could still be around the cap we are spending now on those two.

I don't think we can move Scuds unless we overpay. We can't afford to keep salary on him either. Buyout or retention.

Anyway you look at it, Scuds and Kunitz will not be on the roster after this next season.

Kunitz can be moved for a pick. There is your replacement pick from the second we'd trade. May be another late second, or early third, but with the fourth we'd get I'd be fine with it. We got what's going to be a late second rounder yesterday for a free pick we received as compensation.

It's more than just getting Franson who is a big upgrade from Scuds, it's planning for the future as well. Seems like a win-win for me. Get an even better shot at the Cup, plus retain that talent throughout the future.

Quick had some comments on Sid in the players tribune-

Sidney Crosby

The best backhand shot in the league. I think it might’ve been my first or second year as a pro, and he scored on me from like the hash mark on the wall. Not with a forehand. With a backhand … that beat me far corner. That’s pretty much unheard of. You should stop that 100 out of 100, but he got it off so quick and the puck came in so hot that I didn’t even know it was in the net until his hands were in the air. It was ridiculous.

Crosby just does everything so well. When you’re in the locker room before a game, you look at the two or three stars on the other team and you try to figure out how to make them play to their weaknesses. You point to a name on the whiteboard and say, “Alright, he’s not good at X, so let’s force him to do it as much as possible.” There’s not a single part of Crosby’s game that we can take advantage of. He’s simply an all-around unbelievable hockey player.

I think his jab was directed at one person in particular who kept saying we had to trade Malkin, but would never put his money where his mouth was and talk about a specific proposal.

If I came in here every day and trashed everything you said while offering nothing of value in return, how would you react if I was proved wrong?

People are people, blogger and poster alike.

I agree, but as a paid writer for this site, I think that he should take the high road be the better man. Maybe write, "The Penguins were luckily able to acquire depth without having to trade a player like Evgeni Malkin," as opposed to basically saying, "Told you so, (frank)ers!"

If Clendenning is your #6 you have issues. He was Vancouvers 8 and their D sucks.

The games that he played he was mostly invisible. He is not a puck moving D. He is not that fast.

He is a safe DMan . He can't be sent down , he is waiver eligible. He was going to be a press box occupied player. He should be a teams # 8 if you want full value for him.

Why do you think Hawks let him go also. He is a tweener

I think RW has taken a lot of sh!t.

I read most of the other blogs and other than Dee and Garth, I think RW takes the most heat. People can disagree but some around here have gotten quite personal. Some have gone too far IMO. Just my 2cents.

Personal attacks are not allowed on HB via the CoC and should be dealt with accordingly.

When some arrogant wiener who doesn't ever put his own thoughts out tears you apart day by day, this is allowed. This isn't ESPN or NHL.com he interacts with readers a lot. A subtle finger in the article is rather amusing for me.

You do realize that players can improve after they're moved, right? (You better hope that's the case with Sutter) The Pens have had pretty decent luck in that area. Niskanen was a nothing defenseman for Dallas, Dupuis was a throw in, Kunitz wasn't much. I'm not saying Clendenning is great or anything, but he's a throw in on a trade that was already in the Pens favor. You're the only person who I've seen say he has to clear waivers for us. Every sports writer has said he is on a two way contract and can be sent down without clearing.

And Clendenning is in the running for #7 or #8 initially. He's not coming into the season as the #6 unless we unload D without recouping any, or if there are multiple injuries.

FWIW, I don't care, because I use this site for recreation and just ignore the people I don't want to talk to, so I rarely get offended on here. That said, if people are attacking him personally, they should be reported and will be dealt with accordingly. If people simply want to bash him, he should have the maturity to realize they are people who mean nothing to him and move along.

Appears to be a #6, Pittsburgh has 3 of those types signed up in Erixon Dumo and Clendening. Also, teams Underutilizing players is nothing new. Just because the Nucks wouldn't give him more time doesn't mean he doesn't deserve it. Sometimes they get stuck playing aging D because of contracts like Scuderi.

Over 35 contract so the entire thing counts against the cap.

Very strange.

I agree, but our Mod has been MIA for quite some time. Unfortunately things have degenerated quite a bit since then. Most of the whiners and complainers wouldn't survive a day on other blogs.

If Sutter is your 3C you have bigger issues. I doubt Clendenning could be worse than Scuderi.

Well, as long as you're okay with a paid member of an organization not-so-subtlely telling a patron of his organization "Told you so!!!" then that's your take. Persoanlly, if I did that a customer at my job, I'd be fired. And there are people that I want to do that to every day.
