Thats good news for his development. |

Awesome. Might be good for him to play with guys his own age in the WHL for a season. Then again, he's been playing against men since he was 15 or 16. |

Gotta admit, Treliving is doing an impressive job IMO. I thought Kylington was a steal value-wise where he was drafted. |

If he doesn't make the the Flames I hope he plays in Stockton. Anyway good news for sure! |

Good news, will be easier to keep track of him.
On a side note, has anyone heard anything about Ferlands contract negotiations? |

Hey Todd, really enjoying your blogs. I dont post much but always reading. Calgary Flames have one of the best prospect pools in the league. I thought the Rangers last blog was pretty cool as he wrote about the top 10 prospects in their system. Would love to read a blog on how you would rank Calgary's prospects. Especially interested to hear what u think about Janko, I think Feaster was right and this kid will shine. Cheers!

I know this is about hockey, but what an idiot Kraft is. The guy has more money than brains. Sad that people who get gifted money actually think they earned it. |

Morning all, I was looking at a couple other NHL rumour pages this morning and I read one that had Arizona looking for a RH defenceman to play with OEL so I looked up who was on their roster and prospects. To me Henrik Samuelsson looks like a pretty good fit for a need for the Flames. He is about the right age to be apart of the Flames core, he is RH and looks to fit the power forward role. I know he is listed as centre but if he could be shifted to the wing he might be exactly what the Flames are looking for.
I know Arizona would covet him as well and Wideman would have to waive his NTC but do you guys see a deal that could be done here? Maybe retained some salary (I realize that the Flames are not in a situation to take on extra salary anymore but maybe in the right situation or maybe just for this year) or maybe add in some 3rd/ 4th line depth into the trade. Add a guy Raymond (I know he would have to waive as well but I would say his chances of playing are better in Arizona than they are in Calgary) or Byron?
I am just throwing ideas out there. I think Henrik Samuelsson is exactly what the Flames are looking for. |

Haven't been following him too closely. Looking at his stats, it seems he had a pretty solid AHL rookie campaign.
From the scouting reports on various websites, his foot speed might need a couple more years to get up to NHL snuff. The Flames are pretty high on mobility with the people they've brought in recently.
Depends on two things:
1. The going price for a top 4 defenseman this year (last year it was high)
2. How much of a fan Treliving was of Samuelsson when he was an Assistant GM of the Coyotes.
Treliving knows what he's getting so I think it would be a tough sell. Especially if we intend on taking another shot at playoffs this year. |
