It would be a huge mistake by the Leafs. Stamkos is less than he was. I know it is tempting to go after a guy that is a premier scorer....but the Leafs are finally doing it the right way. This is not the time for short cuts.

If the leafs go after Stamkos it will be as a free agent. The assets it would cost to get him would cripple the rebuild, why not just wait till he's free agent and offer him toews and kane money.

Really doubt Stamkos makes it to UFA. Would cost way to much just to be a rental player. If TB cannot sign him by the TDL they should move him out West for the best available return. That being said, TB is unlikely to get an even return for Stammer. Good, just not great.
