Congrats to him on a great NHL career. Guy always managed to come up big in the clutch and was a lot of fun to watch

One of my all time favorites.

I sincerely hope he returns to the organization in some capacity.

Congratulations on an excellent career, Danny Briere!

Would have been great if they left him at center instead of ruining him on the wing.

I always liked Danny. I really wish that his cap hit was more manageable at the time that he was bought out, but it is what it is. Hopefully he is able to find a way back in to the organization in some capacity.

On a somewhat related note, are there any rumors as to whether Timmonen will have a place/role in the organization in the coming year?

Timonen said he and Hextall would discuss it. Hextall said something similar. Nothing new on that front the last month or so, though.

All the best Danny, you are a class act and will be missed in the NHL.

Danny Briere was the guest of honor at our Sportsnight event at our J.C.C. in Margate a few years ago. He was the epitome of class and grace and he very much helped make the evening a huge success. I would love to see the Flyers find a place for him in the organization!!

I could see Briere stepping into an ambassador role with the Flyers much let Kelly, Dorny, Parent and Fridge have been. he is the perfect guy for that role.

The Danny Briere signing in 2007 helped turn the franchise around. Scored so many big goals and always brought positive energy to games.

He absolutely was. The 07/08 season was the breakout year for Carter and Richards, and the additions of Timonen, Hartnell, Smith, and Lupul helped. But Briere was the guy who set the tone from Game 1 (2 goals in a 3-2 win) and was a beast in the Washington series. Always seemed to come up big when the team needed a goal, and always seemed like a very nice person off the ice. I was sad to see him go, but like everyone else, knew it was something that needed to be done.

Loved Danny, even in orange. Comments from the past couple years made it clear how important it was for him to be around for his kids, nice to think of him getting to enjoy them.

Thanks for the write-up, Bill. Whenever I think of Briere my first thought is "under-performs in the regular season, defensive liability, racks up big points in the playoffs." Your write-up reminds me that he was more than that.

Class act, one of my favorite Flyers to watch. Being vertically challenged myself, it's always nice to see a little guy do so well.

The Flyers made the right decision between the big 3 FA in 2007: Gomez, Drury or Briere. I have to admit I was leaning towards Drury at the time and while I thought any of them would be the right choice I was surely wrong. Only Briere was the right choice for this team at the time and kudos to Homer for identifying it. Such a pleasure to see that guy in Orange and Black. Cheers to a great career Danny!
