You might want to read more carefully

How I see it playing out.
Going to give huge money to KO thus making it almost impossible to re-sign JT. Nash will retire after winning three consecutive cups thus opening up cap space for the Rangers to sign JT. |

If they can sign him for under 6 for 4-5 years it’ll be a good contract for us. If they go over on either of those….it could hurt later.
That said – I think he gets 6-6.5 for 6 years.

If it were up to me, I wouldn't offer him a contract that leaves him with a greater-than $5M/yr cap hit. |

it's a gamble - I don't know if I'd be comfortable moving him as we'd likely not get a top six forward in return, but if you don't move him and he walks...
and if you sign him and he looks like he did after returning last year.. lot of risk on this one.

Pretty fair assessment. http://www.csnmidatlantic...ders?p=ya5nbcs&ocid=yahoo - ses111
when he throws montreal into the mix of teams "we can't compete with" I shook my head. That team isn't a good one, their goalie is the best in the league. I'm expecting montreal to regress this year.

When ses described the assessment, I believe he was using the word "fair" in the sense of "mediocre". Kyle Okposo, the 2nd best player on the team???? |

I did agree with the part of the Isles winning a round with the right matchup. Putting the coaching aside, I do think they may be a player or two away from being a real threat. - ses111
I think you may be right but I believe that player may be already on the team. Some of these kids are probably going to take big steps soon if not this year. |

Just bustin' your shoes.... It was an interesting read, thanks, even if I didn't agree with every aspect of it.
I also agree that they are missing a key ingredient. I think they need a blood & guts, whatever-it-takes type player. Sort of like a Ryan Callahan. Last Islander player who fit that bill was probably Mike Peca. Someone who will respond when you need a shot blocked or a big open ice hit or a key face off won or a hot opposing player neutralized defensively, etc., and with the ability to chip in some key goals, or set them up. These players are not all that common, but I think Ryan Strome could turn into that type of player. |

I agree on the kids like Lee, Strome, and Lee. The problem is with guys like Frans and Bailey and Hickey and how this coaching staff does not believe in limiting minutes for these players. To me this team is just not build for a big run yet. |

I gotcha John and I agree on the need for a Callahan or Peca type player. I thought a player like Fehr would have been a nice upgrade over Frans without breaking the budget. No idea why this type of move was not made and especially after another 1st round loss? |
