I don't know this for sure, but thought there was an offer sheet window?

Anyway, thank you for the run down.

It was more in response to CS suggesting Kruger may be an offer sheet target. (not necessarily just for us, but any team, and most are cap strapped)

I am not even sure we have enough cap space to put something together that would even interest Kruger.

CS mentioning Franson and Buffalo, sounds like the best destination than other teams, with their available cap space.

Our d is the biggest question mark and we don't have the flexibility to address it.

Even if we had the cap space, not sure if Franson would make much of a difference.

Did you have anyone in mind? I can't see us making any moves unless there are injuries ( can't argue with CS). lineup is almost set unless we waive someone.

Thanks for being interested! I can't wait for the calendar to flip to September so we start getting some real news.

Offer sheets can happen at any time—maybe you're thinking of the buyout windows?

Remember, Calgary offer-sheeted Ryan O'Reilly in February of 2013, when he was holding out from Colorado. That's the last one we've seen.

Wikipedia has a list of all the offer sheets in NHL history. Dustin Penner's the only guy offer-sheeted after 1997 who actually changed teams.

Okay, you got me. That is very interesting that buyouts can happen at any time, I guess that takes the hammer out of the hands of the team holding the player's rights.

I'm with you on the calendar, not much to do until that young guns tourney. That sounds like a nice assignment if you get to go.

Anyway, always appreciate your informed and level headed perspective.

.
Could see the Canucks looking into it before they signed Sutter....

money would be better spent on a dman today

Horvat looked like he was flying in those clips, they must have sped up the playback speed or something.

We have questions at 4LC. This tells me they may feel that Vey won't be ready to handle 4LC and one of the kids ain't ready to step into that role like Horvat was last year. Not shocking to hear as Eller did have a bit of chemistry with Prust at times.

Burrows and Higgins for Eller and a 2nd. Git' er' done.

I don't think Montreal would want Higgins back (although he did have his best years with Montreal )

With Horvat, Sutter, Vey, McCann, Cassels and Gaunce waiting to fill 3 NHL spots, plus a call-up role, this boggles my mind.

Especially since Mathias and Richardson were allowed to walk for below market value.

Trade more assets for a fill-in player that you could have replaced internally... rebuilding an NHL team 101.

(If Les Habs would take salary back, then I'm all for it, but if it is a case of picks or futures for a good, but slightly redundant player, then colour me confused, again)

Tank tank tank.

This isn't a playoff team. 2-3 years of losing is needed.

Matthias fluked out a 20 goal season and we would have had to way overpay for him to remain.

Richardson is injury prone now so there is no harm in letting them walk.

Horvat Sutter and Hank have the 3 C's locked down but there must be some concern on 4LC. If they feel the kids aren't ready to step in like Horvat was or Vey isn't there then Eller might be a good stop gap for a season or until TDL.

If they are looking at Eller, wondering if they took a run at Fehr before he was signed by the Pens?

And you are right, they could have kept Matthias or Richardson at a lower cap hit than Eller.

That rumour doesn't make much sense.

pricey 4th line if it is Prust, Eller and Dorsett.

Benning throws in a 4th in 2016—Horvat has off-ice issues, and nobody would take him when he was shopped all last season.

A total mix up in Vancouver, Kassian was the calming influence, it was all Horvat at the Roxy and Celebrities.

I think we can get by with what we have. Vey can start at centre, and if need be, Sutter or Horvat can take important face offs (when possible) if they have to and then switch once the play gets going. Someone from Utica could always step up too- if not at the start of the season, maybe after some seasoning with the Comets.

I know Subban is a long shot, but still am curious to see what he can do... I should change my location to wearing rose coloured glasses and drinking kool-aid..

It isn't a bad trade proposal though.

Vey at fourth line centre is fine if you are going for that top 7 pick. Eller is a very decent 3/4 centre moving Burrows also moves the contract and opens a spot for Grenier

Sedin Sedin Vrbata
Sven Sutter Hansen
Higgins/ Kenins Horvat Grenier
Prust Eller Dorsett

Vey ... Pretty obvious, unless Cassels or Sutter want to do the honours.
