I like it but I still get nervous having only 1d on pp. I like the 2D model.
Also, I know it's tiops but who are they claiming the pens are talking to about pto? Ther saying there are 4 and list.Boyes as the other... is one tlusty? |

I still think the 1-3-1 Power play is the way to go. Washington's PP was scary using it last year. The Penguins never had that above average right hand shot to play the left half wall until now. |

If its on Kessels stick Malkin can wander in and out of the middle.
If its on Malkins, Kessel can do that same thing. |

If I'm not mistaken the Flyers like to use that formation as well. I love it. The puck hounds at the net front only add to the appeal. I have no problem with one D either. Put as much talent on that 1st as you can. To play it safe for the sake of hoping not to give up a goal is wasting an opportunity that is handed to you. |

I would play a diamond PP with 51 at the point, 87 on RW, Hornqvist screening, and Kessel on the LW. Malkin roves through the middle around the slot and pulls defenders out of position as a decoy for passing lanes. Otherwise Malkin is wide open on the hash marks with a screen to shoot through. |

If Roberts actually whips him into shape, he's going to be deadly. He's already lost his winter-classic chin. |

Gary Roberts broke his left fibula vs. the Sabres in late December 2007. According to teammates, Roberts completed a grueling shoulders/traps workout at the team facilities later that night. Teammates were terrified (looking at you, Tyler Kennedy). |

Ovechkin is probably a better PP weapon than anyone though. I don't care what the team uses, but their shot generation sucked last season and that shouldn't be the case just because they lost James Neal. I know Perron is not near Kessel's offensive aptitude but he didn't seem to make much of a difference on the PP last year. |

So, basically, the 1-3-1 |

Yes. Hornqvist doesn't do anything except screen and rebound. It's a 4 on 4 at that point but three of those four players are Kessel, Malkin, and Crosby. There should usually be 2 passing options and a screen to shoot at 100% of the time. The idea is that a lot of bang-bang lateral plays can happen as a result of Malkin stretching the defense or being left open.
The only thing this formation doesn't account for is setting moving picks but the Penguins aren't really a cycling team and they would be worse off settling for point shots than they would creating and exploiting breakdowns in coverage. |

Wow that PP is going to be up there with Washington's. Kessel in great shape playing with a healthy Crosby could translate into a 50 goal season |

I can't find video but Gary Roberts was down on the ice until he saw a stretcher coming. At that point he skated off with help from a few teammates. It doesn't take that long to reduct a bone and cast the leg; totally feasible that he could have been in the gym that night. |

They didn't go to the PP much last season. They had a substantial negative penalty ratio. |
