Hutton will always be compared to Frankie's success now. Kid better bring it cause the fickle fans in this city will not be easy on him.
Just another move by this management I hate.
Right shot dmen don't come around too often. Ugh. |

I think they chose Weber over Corrado not Hutton. Weber is not in the top three pairings, meaning he's the 7th dman, and, he's a right handed shot.
Most likely where Corrado was slotted in? |

Biega and Subban both are righties and will be available to call up from the AHL. Tanev/Weber are still righties with the NHL club and Bartkowski apparently is okay with playing the right side. |

Losing Corrado for nothing sounds worse than it is. We'll get over it.
Of course, in the meantime there will be plenty of fans calling for management's head. Probably the same fans who were livid we didn't sign Schultz, or one of those other highly touted players who never panned out. |

I think this is more of a "giveaway" than a "throwaway"...
EDIT: Unless you did actually mean "throw always"... in which case I got nothing |

I can't blame them for taking a shot. Not a huge surprise considering that Dubas/Hunter probably saw a lot of him in the OHL when he looked really promising, but sadly his progression stalled after his first stint in the NHL. |

If he made their top 6 then you know they have a weak D. He was 8 th here |

All you need is a couple of seconds to look at our goals against (and likely 30 seconds to stop vomiting) to know that we don't have a particularly strong D-corps... |

I think placing him on waivers the Canucks knew the risks and I don't think they really cared. I would consider that a throw away |

Regardless they could have kept both Hutton and Corrado I believe if they would have just put Higgins on LTIR. No sense in risking losing a guy if you don't have to. Lots of people say oh well it's a risk that needed to be made. I'm pretty damn sure it was not. |

I wonder how Sutter is going to fit in on RW? Personally I like it because it gives McCann a chance as third line center. Top nine down the middle is gonna get me watching games to see how it goes….Trevor you sneaky bastard!!

They're going to suck, so I'm guessing they'd rather have a young stopgap player who might benefit from a new organization instead of what they currently have.
And I'm 99% sure Dubas/Hunter both were intrigued by him since his OHL days and that's why it was the Leafs. |

I know TO doesn't have a strong D and I doubt he makes an impact. Best of luck to him , I hope he turns out long term and he picks his game up. Maybe this will put a spark under his ass seeing he was left to walk |

I think Higgins would have had to miss minimum 10 games or 24 days, something like that anyways. He'll probably be ready way before that so putting him on LTIR wasn't really an option if some of these kids don't pan out. They'll need him in the lineup. |

Yeah, on my armchair GM opening night roster, I wanted to keep him as a the 8th dman with Higgins on LTIR. I really don't think it's going to come back to bite the Canucks in the ass long-term though unlike some other moves. |

I like him better as a winger as well, just not on that line. But if anyone can make him look good, it's those two. |

I am not going to feel bad. I feel the same as when we lost Clendenning. I doubt these guys will ever amount to much. They don't do anything particularly well , like heavy hits , great shot or speed to burn . We lost another meh player. Canucks could have put Weber on waivers but they valued him more than FC. They chose McDonalds over Burger King |

I'm not too pissed that Corrado left the organization but it is a head-scratcher as to why it happened in the first place.
Per what I read on Yahoo:
With Chris Higgins injured, the Canucks could have temporarily sent Hutton down to the AHL, declared their 23-man roster by the Tuesday deadline, then put Higgins on long-term injured reserve and called Hutton back up. It would have meant carrying 8 defencemen on the roster, but with the risk of injuries, that’s not always a bad thing, particularly when it means that you don’t risk losing a 22-year-old, right-shooting, NHL-ready defenceman for nothing.
If this is true and Higgins is LTIR worthy then this loss is just poor asset management from the Benning crew. Either that or they really did not give two sh!ts about keeping Corrado in the organization.
Either way, I doubt anyone cries over this too much but I do hope team Benning get some better advisers on how to dance around the roster regulations. |
