Anyone who thought getting Eichel was preferable to getting McDavid was experiencing severe denial. McDavid is going to be the best player to have come into the league since Mario Lemieux.

Eichel, on the other hand, is going to be very, very good. Possibly Jonathan Toews type good.

Sabres fans should be happy that we got Eichel as opposed to Strome, Marner or Hanafin. Eichel will be a lot more impactful than those players.

However, we were so close to getting the next Gretzky or Lemieux. That kid is going to win multiple MVPs and multiple Cups.

And who did not covet McDavid? The fact is Buffalo had a 20% chance of getting him and an 80% of getting Eichel . Sure we would have loved to get Mcdavid . But we are pretty happy with Eichel The joke is anyone actually thinks Garth actually reads the comments. Depends what your looking for Toews/Kane or Crosby/Malkin. I'd take all around talent to that of pure offense any day.

Toews and Kane are your all around talents.

Crosby and Malkin are your pure offensive talents who can play the other areas of the game but hardly excel at those.

but youre flat out wrong if u don't think connor also has a very solid defensive side of the game and is quality without the puck. Connors takeaway skills are as good as ive seen from an 18 year old. and his abilities to win battles with bigger guys through skills and smarts is extremely impressive.

McDavid is playing with other high draft picks... Eichel is playing with the likes of Gionta, Moulson, Foligno, Deslauriers...and while good players in their own right, they are not Yakupov, RNH, Eberle or Hall.

you cant just make these statements assuming theyre a solid rebuttal when you don't even know if theyre true. I think its much like the original eichel post I commented on. Its just a made up statement that one wants to be true to further their own agenda.

mcdavid has played the vast majority of his 5v5 time with yakupov and pouliot. which is the 2nd line.
pouliot does not have the pedigree u mentioned, and yaks was called a bust right up until started playing with connor. yaks turning it around is no coincidence.
not only has connor carried that line, but its been our best many nights. because of him. and on both sides of the puck.

its funny how easy it is to pick and choose what facts one uses in a debate. last year yaks was a bust and a terrible pick. but in this instance, hes a high pedigree and connor is super lucky to be playing with him.....

not only that, but the vast majority of eichels first ten games were played along side evander kane before he went down. id bet anything that if this argument wasn't skewed to the narrative youre pushing here, there isn't a sabres fan around, including yourself, that doesn't say kane is better than either of mcdavids linemates.
