Softest team in the league playing a hard team. That's what happened.
Ottawa wants to win, it just doesn't want to take the bruises to do it. That's what been going on for 3 years here - easiest place in the NHL to be a hockey player. |

The Leafs win one game and the trolls come out. If the sens suck at 7-5-3 (or 50-31-16 over the past two seasons/97games), how do you describe the Leafs at 3-8-4 (33-52-12 over the past two seasons/97 games)?
Better yet, how do you describe a team that has Lupul as their top scoring forward? If you're thinking about trolling, either step your game up or go back to cheering for the blue jays - the biggest news to come out of leafland recently was the signing of a $50M coach and their chances of drafting Matthews... that's more pathetic than the Sens D core. |

I am a Karlsson fan but lately he can't spell defense. In fact last night he could have spelled "PYLON"! HE IS NO WHERE NEAR ALONE!
HEY BRYAN. A LITTLE HELP HERE! |

Ottawa isn't alone with their D problems. Go around the league and you will notice the lack of defensive depth. This is the reason guys like Jeff Petry are getting paid 7 million dollars to just be able to play the position without being a liability at times. So by saying that, most teams are going to hold onto their average d men rather then trade them away, just because of the shortage of them. |

Wiercioch has been the worst overall d-man. Not sure why he doesn't get the flak like Boro and Cowen do who are close 2nds in the worst d-men competition.
It's not ideal have to have 3 d-men playing every night who wouldn't crack a majority of NHL rosters elsewhere. It's disappointing because Karlsson, Methot, and Ceci are a solid top 3. |

I think most teams have their own Boro/Cowen/or Wiercioch, but not all 3, with the exception for teams purposely rebuilding (which is supposed to be over here in Ottawa).
I think the drastic measure might have to be playing the top 4 similar minutes to what Chicago did in their Cup run. Finding a guy to round out the top 4 might be difficult. And Ottawa doesn't exactly have Chicagos firepower.
The contracts for Cowen and Weircioch are really unfortunate. Were given to them before they proved anything. |

I agree with what you say about the Sens D, but not many teams have a surpless of D men that the sens can trade for. The ones that are available will have bad contracts or are an older player. |

Pretty much and upcoming UFAs. I don't think any d-men are being easily moved until the deadline and even then it's slim pickings. |

Ya, but I can't see Murray giving up a good forward and prospect for a rental tho |

The title of the blog was to tempting to pass on as a Leafs fan living in Ottawa. Had no choice but to troll Sens fans.
While I'm at it, Sens chances to win a cup are limited to the next three seasons - because we all know once the Leafs get back in the playoffs that the Sens will always be eliminated by the mighty Blue and White. |

Yeah I remember those times. In my opinion the problem is that the defense issue has not been addressed. I just cannot understand how experienced people who have been around hockey for years cannot see what everyone else can. When you look at the moves made by Murray, and as much as I appreciate his situation, he has not been strong enough. Maybe its the owner not spending money, I don't know. But we have not been good enough when bringing players in. And it was definitely Murray who has kept saying he wants another top 6 forward when that is not as big a concern as the D. Someone help me out here as I just don't understand how they can't see the issue. |

Relax Sens fans, like 70 % of teams in the league when the goaltending isn't excellent, teams warts are exposed. They will be fine. In the hunt for a playoff spot. If they get in , out the first round, at best out the second. Seems when ever expectations rise, the Sens step back. Still very early though. Nice to have expectations for your team though eh? |
